An extra consideration right now is that Easter falls in the middle of Ramadan this year! While young kids don't fast, kids over the age of 10 usually do. If you're culturally christian definitely ask about how to best include Ramadan this whole month, but also as with any kid of a different religious background, check with the family if it's appropriate for the kid to celebrate Easter with you, or if you might make certain accomodations (like having your big Easter dinner at or after sundown)

Foster Parent tip from a former foster child who was taken away the day before Easter. When your foster child asks you if the Easter Bunny will still be able to find them you say YES, and get them at least a Bunny or something. Don't tell them that the Easter Bunny isn't real like Santa Clause and ruin all the magic in their lives. It's a really shitty thing to do to kids who are already scared, and deeply upset.

If I were younger and in better health, I would absolutely consider fostering. I appreciate all of the good foster parents, social workers, and CASA volunteers (child advocates who represent survivors of violence) who do their best for the kids while the parents get sorted.

A question I have been thinking about: how does religion work in foster care? Different beliefs, church, holidays, etc.

I don't why I'm watching your videos But the amount of thoughtfulness and empathy and courage that you show makes me cry. I don't even have kids, I don't even know if I want any But I feel like everything that you put out is so relevant to basically anyone that is around children whether they are foster children or not. It's not even always what you're trying to illustrate in the video, It's just the fact that you're thinking about where these kids are coming from and what you can do to make them feel more at home and feel more ease and more comfortable.

This is also the time of Ramadan and Passover! So also you can ask if kids observe those holidays!

I can’t believe my state would do any of this stuff
It’s total no contact when they’re stripped from the home, except for few hrs weekly supervised visit (maybe) where u are intensely watched for any “wrong” child interaction so parents often can’t handle the “visit”.

What do you do if they do not celebrate a holiday, but it is important to your family?

Could you do a video on how to address a substantial difference in culture ~> say Christian/Easter and Muslim/Ramadan

I have a question - if your foster kids were Jewish and kept Passover, would you turn the kitchen? If not, what kind of accommodations do you make? Just wondering ❤❤

Yes this was huge for my uncle who my grandparents adopted. So I’m unaware if my uncles were Catholic when my grandparents adopted I assume so. They had to take into consideration if they had different religions had to respect their wishes. For begin foster parents it incredible importance to keep a familiar tradition for the kids they feel less alone nice job
