Hi Kalyn! I love the idea of using the four different systems. I'm a late bloomer to the planner/journal idea. I started a bullet journal in 2020 in a small notebook. I then bought a Leuchtturn 1917 and started it but just got over trying to be creative. I'm not very artistic or creative. Just as I decided to try the disc journal, you changed to something else, LOL! Anyway, I have decided to actually put together, and use the disc journal for 2024. I really like the looks of the H&O planner, though. I have tried a few times now to download the Find Your Match guide, but I still haven't received it.

I have gone back and forth between digital apps and planners, but finally in 2023 settled back into my bullet journal with my hybrid digital notebook taking app and Google calendar - because I saw a video with Ryder Carrol (the bullet journal’s creator) explaining how he uses a hybrid digital and bullet journal system - and it finally just clicked for me. I “journal” in my daily logs, and I’ve realised the importance of reviewing at the end of each month from my daily pages - what I’ve watched, read, followed, thought, felt, achieved, overcame - so when I review my year, those are the pages I draw data from. For your new pre-planned journal, you don’t have the freedom to do this; however you could achieve the same by just going back at the end of each month and fill in any blanks. We never set aside enough time to review our week or our month and just revisit ourselves… to make it easier to go back and revisit ourselves over time. We eventually get better at adding more and better information into our journals, for easier recall - it’s a muscle that needs to be developed; yet we also at the same time need to simplify how we do it - get better at rapid note taking - because if it’s too hard or too much work we simply drop off. I also have a seperate notebook for knowledge/study - same as you😊. I’ve been using Craft Docs, the Apple version of Notion, but interested in possibly a return to Notion - I’ll look at your Notion videos😊. And Google Calendar is my bible😂 - if it’s not in my calendar, it doesn’t exist😂. New subscriber.

The notebooks are gorgeous! I love the pastels and how beautifully they are designed, they are very similar to the ones I love to buy.

This was so fun to watch, Kalyn! I always love crawling inside your brain and hearing how you think through your process and develop a system that works for you RIGHT now. The fact that you plan for long term but don’t stress if you need to change it up seems super healthy to me—I aspire to be more like you in this way! Also, your video editor is rocking it. 😉 Loved the hearts moment! 💕

I have been using Hemlock & Oak religiously since 2022 and, let me assure you, you will not regret it. Not only are the designs gorgeous, but everything is made sustainably and the customer care team always go the extra mile to make you feel valued. It's like a luxury brand but with warmth, if that makes sense. Everything about their products shows you just how much thought and care went into making it - it all gets a personal touch. I just cannot say enough good things about them as a company (and, no, I'm not a brand ambassador). I've used the undated weekly planner, the lined notebook, and for 2024 I am using the Minimalist Weekly planner but I am giving serious consideration to trying the daily planner to use alongside it. I am excited to see how you put it to use (it might sway me one way or the other 😅). All the best in 2024!

I use plain notepaper in a 3 inch binder, and one page every day, for my daily to do list. Very inexpensive and it stays flat. I use a big lined journal for my commonplace book. I use to doist, apple reminders, apple notes, fantastical calendar. But still need a way to track and manager tasks better. I went through bulllet journals and many planners before I came to this easy way to organize my life.

Have you made an updated video with how these 4 are working together? I couldn’t find an update and am thinking of using this system so would love to hear how it’s going after 4 months now. Thank you for all the info! I love that I just found your channel tonight I’m watching EVERYTHING! ❤

I just found you and I have been watching your older videos and I am new to notion, I find it overwhelming and I want to buy all the second brain templates out there, but I read that its better to build your own. I am going to get your beginner video first to see if I can figure it out myself before buying and expensive template. Most of the content creators out there teaching tutorials talk and go so fast I can't follow but you speak clearly and at a good pace and show what you are doing so thank you for that.

I decided to stop buying planners this year. I have a big monthly calendar on the wall for my family, but everything is on my phone.

I use the apple calendar since it’s always with me and shows my next event on the locked screen and my watch. On Sunday I make sure my phone calendar and wall calendar match so I don’t miss anything.

For my brain/to do list I use the reminders app. I like setting the day and times I want tasks to repeat and then not having to remember them anymore or rewrite the info over and over again.

For my meal planning and grocery shopping list I use the MealBoard app.

Oh, and the notes app. I use that daily too.

I’m using a combo of Notion, iCal, Notes and Reminders for digital and I have a Hobonichi Cousin for daily planning and journaling, a Traveler’s Notebook in passport size for every day carry and a Leuchtturm 1917 in A5 size for note taking. A lot of things get duplicated between the digital and analog worlds, but after my heart attack in 2021 I need both to actually remember things. It really helps keep things organized. :)

I like your idea of using Leuchtturm notebook for learning/reading notes. Great information...thanks!!

I can so relate to this! I’m still searching for the right digital tool that will help me stay on track with content creation. I would love to see a dedicated video about how you do that in Notion and with your paper planner. I’m using Google calendar and a Hobonichi Cousin right now… but I know I could be so much more organized and consistent with content if I had a better system.

I love this analysis and how you thought it all out. Have you done the followup video yet? I'm interested to see how it all turned out. :D

Your channel popped up, lack of better word to describe the algorithms anyway been searching for a planner. I like your video, clear you tube voice. Easy to follow. And got an aha moment. Yes a combination digital and paper. Hmmm. But… I actually liked your 2023 inserting pages. Anyway I believe the key to all this might be reflecting. Cheers new subscriber from Vancouver Island Canada.

Im using a hemlock and oak undated weekly and undated daily as my 2 main planners thisbyear. I love love love h&o. I tell EVERTONE about them ans how great they are. They customer service sucks as they listen to trolls rather than the people that are positively promoteing thier products and have gotten atleast 20 sales from me but thier planners are AMAZING and i already have mine for 2025.

You could use your Erin C planner as a gratitude journal/bullet journal (I gratitude in bullets). I did that with a previous planner and it worked out REALLY well for me.. Just a thought. :)

OMG I have been following your other channel all this time for RV stuff and just now realize you are a planner girl as well. I knew I liked you for a reason. Hope to meet up with you guys some time when we make it out west in our MH.

FYI - digital has everything paper does except the bulkiness. I know it isn’t for everyone, but don’t discard the digital idea because you want to hand write almost everything. I take all my notes, make my lists, plan my life digitally and most of it is handwritten except my calendar. I scribble off notes for classes, sermons, ideas, etc. in 1 app. Then, I transfer them to the appropriate permanent app by handwriting them and decorating with digital stickers, washi tapes, etc. I can make them interactive by including hyperlinks (easy peasy in most apps). So if all paper or even a hybrid system isn’t working, consider trying digital.

Great video!! I have been hybrid planning and journaling for three years now. I use my iPad for my digital planning through the GoodNotes app. I am completely digital for planning out my days and all of my budgeting and finances. And I am mostly analog for my journaling (daily journaling, commonplace and goal setting). Every now and then I do digital journaling in my GoodNotes journals. I have a digital film/tv journal and a digital reading journal for tracking and writing reviews. I also use my phone calendar to keep track of any appointments and meetings.
