As someone who's become obsessed with trying to create a system to manage my time and resources, creating countless notion databases and bullet journals, just to end up not using them- this. This is a breath of fresh air. I need to stop overcomplicating everything, and just Do.
Thanks for reminding me of the importance of simplicity.

Note to self

1. Time yourself
⁃ Understanding how long it takes you to do things by timing yourself

2. Calendar or piece of paper or on phone with Google Calendar
1. Capture new tasks and deadlines as soon as you get it
2. Plan your day based on what needs to be done
3. Schedule/ Move all other tasks to future days in the calendar

3. 4 rules
1. It has to be { Flexible }
2. It needs to be { Easy to restart after periods of neglect }
3. It has to { Reduce stress }
⁃ Immediately record any tasks, deadlines and ideas that we get

“Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.” - David Allen

4. It has to { Prioritize our tasks }

➪ We have to pick and choose what’s important for us

➪ Make informed decisions when it matters

This is so good! As students we can't just ask others to do things for us and this system shows that we don't need to be packed with tasks all the time. Keep up with the videos they're so good!

This is from the book "How to Be A Straight-A Student" by Cal Newport! That book literally changed my life it has sooo many good tips from students that performed well at top universities!

didn't realise how organised I already am until this. I spend so much time stressing about getting assignments done, but props to me for actually having a system in place

This is amazing. I’ve been trying to figure out how to better organize and optimize my time but it always felt like a chore and made me more stressed instead of less stressed, which is the point of all of this. I’m definitely going to use this process from now on, thank you!!!

This is just what I needed as someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, I tend to overcomplicate things, and thanks for reminding me to just simplify it, so I can just do it🙂

This video made me laugh for all the good reasons. The cool thing is that I can apply the advice even though I'm not longer only a student. Priorities definitely should be the first thing to look for but flexibility allow us to adjust to many circumstances.

P.S. Matty don't let Mike to push you into buying him a new iPad 😂

I've watched a lot of time management videos and this is only one of the few that did not give me anxiety or stress about having to be very meticulous on my day-to-day/weekly tasks.

I usually don't comment on videos but this one deserves all the praise. What you say in the intro of the video is absolutely right. I've been looking at planning and scheduling videos for months now because I've been stuck in a slump and absolutely no one talked about how a student should go about planning their day. I finally feel motivated to get my shit done because of how well you broke things down and made it so so simple. Things no longer feel overwhelming, thanks to you!

I needed this. I’ve never used a calendar or schedule in my life and it has only caused me to be excessively stressed, to forget things and to procrastinate all the time. I’m starting my first year of college in a couple of days and want to get my shit together. Thank you!!!

It’s really nice to see a student organisation video that isn’t just “plan your day minute by minute with a robotic and strict routine each day that has zero room for adaptation”. Quick, simple to understand, incredibly adaptable, space to implement smaller routines if desired and not generic.

I’ve definitely leaned towards a method slightly similar after realising the whole day routine thing wasn’t for me. A to do list based on a spreadsheet of topics to revise, picking based both on urgency and time taken. I’d then tier them to see what I needed to prioritise for the day. But there wasn’t any other written structure asides from the class timetable and shift times, no master to do list for things outside of topic revision, no designated place to note extra things (I would write them somewhere but nowhere specific). My weekly calendar was basically just the additional topics I should use as replacements for complete tasks, so it would quickly get outdated/messy and didn’t provide extra benefit. It worked well enough overall but definitely could be improved, and won’t be as good at uni (more miscellaneous commitments/events, plus I got my own place between A-Levels and uni which needs more maintenance).

I think this video basically has everything I need to sort the aspects of my previous method that didn’t work whilst also letting me incorporate other things that have worked for me that aren’t included here. A written system that allows for both allotting times and changing them, without requiring/tempting you to fill in pointless details and plan every minute (which was always frustrating and time consuming). Genuinely a really helpful video that’s allowed me to solidify the details of how I was going to change my plans

this was such an amazing video for students. I always make my schedules very rigid and dont follow them and since starting college, I have also been struggling about spending time with friends and taking time out to study at the same time. Thank you so much.

the editing on this video really shines. All of the edits help communicate the message, and don't distract from it. Nice work.
