Learn how to set up formatting rules in Excel to automatically highlight the largest cell value.

Using conditional formatting Excel can detect the largest value in a range of cells and highlight the largest value cell.

Step 1: Click Conditional Formatting
Step 2: Click 'New Rule'
Step 3: Click 'Format only top or bottom ranked values'
Step 4: Adjust 'format values' and 'Preview' as required

Awesome video. So much easier than using the MAX or LARGE functions. I couldn't get those to work properly. They were highlighting ever cell underneath the max too.

I want to do this in a bank account forecast, but for the range to change as previous dates have gone if that makes sense. So today it might be for E20-E500, once I have reconciled the figures for a day or two, it might then be from E34-E500. So the MIN and MAX would only be for the range from reconciled figures forward and not still return a MIN from three months ago. Is this possible?
