This is a truly great compressor pedal.
It doesn't get the love it deserves.

I have an ebs multi comp. It has a 5:1 ratio. I'm looking for a little more out of a compression pedal and I think this is the one I'll get next. Thanks for another great video!

Nice pedal. It’s like an 1176 in a pedal in term of the controls (same ratios same attack/release control direction etc). I wanna buy one so bad and compare it to my 1176 clone 😝😝😝

Interesting. It sounds good. I deal with metal tones, so EMG’s are always on the menu. Recently I’m wanting to swap the EMG’s with SD Alnico ll’s, and use a compressor to boost the front end. Depending on which compressor pedal’s used, it could compensate, and give more control over compression. A 1.5 Ratio + mix knob would help. Thanks, take care :)

This is 1:1 UREI 1176 compressor in a box, except for the transformers. Which can be remedied with DI box. Dumbest thing MXR could have done is naming it Bass Compressor. It takes line input signal no problem, i even had condenser mics like akg c1000, and Rode nt3 plugged directly into it.

I ❤️ MXR pedals ... got 8 of them besides a behringer wah pedal & Ibanez tuner, Mooer drum pedal .

I figured compression was compression for the most part. And the only bass apecific parts would be a hpf/lpf or something like that. Like the Cali76 Bass compressor. I can find a decent clone of the bass pedal but not the matching guitar compressor pedal, so I was considering buying the cali76 bass comp clone for guitar.

This is a rebrand like you said. Apparently the bass envelope filter sounds great too if you believe Eric Gales ;)

My brother has this for his bass and rarely uses it. Needless to say his pedal board is going to be a little bit lighter now.

One weird problem I've always had with my bass guitars is that the low E string is always massively unbalanced in terms of tone. The E string is always super full and thick and bassy and epic, but the other strings in comparison just feel wimpy in comparison. So when I play groove that jumps between the E and A strings, it sounds kind of weird. A compressor does help with the volume, but the raw tone between the strings is wildly different.

That's actually pretty awesome to use a compressor to actually *lower* the gain to make a cleaner sound. I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone do that before.

One of the best compressor for the buck on used market, it works exactly like a CLA76...The attack and release are so logic, push it and it gets faster

After all this years i playing guitar, now i know what compressor pedal do. Seriously asking, why on a clean part of a song some guitarist have comp pedal on. I just dont understand clean and compres??? Why not using a single coil pickup guitar...it is compressed enough.
