MXR Bass (M87 or Studio M76) Compressor vs 1176 Shootout

Amazing inexpensive Urei 1176 style compressor in guitar pedal form. It is exactly same as MXR Studio M76 compressor pedal, MXR changed the model as the BASS in the name made confusion. It is full range effect, and requires no attenuation on the input, it takes line level no problem.

The Gypaf 1176 is well known 1:1 clone of legendary Urei 1176, sounds killer.

IMHO both kill any plugin i've ever tried. I matched them to the best of my ability. They are incredibly close at any setting.

The track is a raw ribbon mono over the shoulder drum microphone, no edits or EQ.

So... Missing a bit of low end (which is funny as this is a bass pedal) although... Impressive for such a small little box! Thanks so much for the shootout. Did you ever use it in a mix?

Funny! I've bee nusing mine this way for mono drum smashing. I use a dynacomp in paradelle for vocals a lot too.

Did you use a DI of some sort? I've been curious about using this as an outboard compressor.

Also, it sounds like you could easily adjust the attack time to really match that 76 style compressor you already have. I'd be curious about something like that.

Did you use a reamp box or straight from the interface?
