He is talking about the 15in Air but puts up the specs for the new 13in air 00:02:09. The 15in air isn’t quite so light at 3.3lbs (not 2.7lbs like the 13in air). Definitely noticeably heavier than both the m1 and m2 13in airs. And darn close to the weight of the 14in Pro which is 3.5 lbs

Watching this on my base model 15" MacBook Air and I absolutely love it. I had a 2017 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar as well as a M2 13" MacBook Air. This one is perfect, blending the best of the two together. I really missed the larger screen but don't need the crazy power and never liked the weight of the 2017 Pro. Amazing battery and the speakers sound even more full of bass than the 2017 15" Pro. Very happy with this purchase!

Weight factor definitely make the most sense for me on this one. As freelance creator like myself. MacBook Pro M1 16inch weight insanely heavy even though it’s has a lot of pros. I normally have laptop with me in my camera when I travel and never leave it in my hotel. The portability got to say is the big deal and still has good performance for photo editing. I decided on the 15” air over the pro line for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the macbook pros with the newest M-series chips are total overkill for the vast majority of users. I’m not 3D rendering, I’m not processing hours and hours of 8k video. And even if I were, the MacBook Air can also do it, just not as blazingly fast. YouTubers keep talking about the Air as if it’s completely incapable of compiling code or editing professional videos, which is simply not true. If that is your career, the Pro line is worth the investment for the speed bump on those tasks in a professional setting, otherwise the Air is the sweet spot of size, portability, power, and good looks. There are no other 15” laptops even close to this price range that share the same weight and power class as the Air, period. If you’re considering a new mac and you’re not a professional youtuber or specifically in a career that requires more, literally any M-series chipped model is going to make you very happy for, at minimum, half a decade.

The other reason is the cost. Youtubers keep comparing the 15” Air to the 14” Pro, when in reality they should be comparing it to the 16” pro. I want the bigger screen, so a 14” pro, while not a huge dealbreaker, is already a step down in that regard. And unless I’m literally in the middle of exporting a 1 hour long 8k video, I’m not going to notice the speed difference with any other task, but I certainly WILL notice when I quickly fill up that 512gb SSD, and I’ll certainly notice the extra two pounds of the pro when I’m walking around the city all day. I’m a writer, so while the higher refresh rate on the pros is very nice, I would only enjoy it while wiggling my mouse around. So considering all of that, for a similarly specced price comparison a 15” M2 Air with 16gb of ram and a 1TB SSD is a thousand dollars cheaper than a 16” pro with 16gb of ram and 1TB SSD. So I went with the Air, it was an easy choice to make.

I ordered the 15-in MBA with 16GB/1TB and the 70 watt fast charger... ordered on 13th and arrived today (21st). The 2015 15-in MBP was one of my favorite Macs and the 2023 15-in MBA has such a similar aesthetic. Love this laptop!

I just got one as a nursing school student. The only thing I’m still caught up on is the blue color. I have wanted the blue color but dang it really does show finger prints 🥴 I still love it though. I finally upgraded from my 2014 MacBook Air 13 inch. It does show how long macs run for.

Current set up is 16 MBP at my desk to power my demanding tasks + run 2 screens, which I’ve had since last year. Then 15in MBA for my couch, bed, kitchen, and traveling. I also agree, i work out 4x a week and it’s still heavy to lug around the airport, hotel, and even out and about in the city. I always got so frustrated planning my work days only at the hotel room, and now i don’t have too!

I faced the same dilemma when I got my base M2 MBA 13. By the time I spec'd it up in was in M1 MBP price territory, and I just didn't need that much power or cost in a portable. I think those looking the the new 15 will be having the same dilemma.

I have a 14” M1 Pro Macbook Pro 16/1TB. Last week a purchased the 15” Macbook Air 16/1TB to see if it would make a good replacement for me 14” MBP. For me, I wanted a larger monitor, and better battery life, without going to a heavier device. Truth be told, It turns out that even the M1 Pro is overkill for my needs, and aside from the quality of the monitor, it’s mainly FOMO that keeps me buying the higher-specked items. On the daily, I have about 10 concurrent apps running, about 30 browser tabs in Safari, and occasionally Parallels. I have not noticed any performance decline on the MBA vs the MBP, in fact, the faster single-core makes most tasks seem a bit quicker compared to the M1 Pro. The main plus is the larger display, and the extra 3-5 hours of battery life I am seeing on the MBA. Coincidently, I also find the MBA more comfortable to type on. So I have until next Wednesday to decide whether I am keeping the MBA and selling the MBP and I am conflicted. Although by all accounts, the MBA is exactly what I need, the FOMO is strong with me lol. I even customized the resolution on the 14” MBP to give me more real estate while maintaining a reasonable size, however, the 15” MBA “just feels right”. If I ever have a super-intensive task, I do run a Mac Studio at home that I can use.

I have just purchased the 15 inch M2 8GB ram 512 hard drive, in starlight. I am very pleased with the purchase, as a teacher I got a nice discount as well. Compared to my old M1 MacBook air, i've yet to put the new air through its paces yet, as a teacher i am sure it will out perform what I had! Thanks for the video!

You can workaround the 1 display limit by buying a displaylink dock & a usb B to usb C cable. While charging using magsafe, I can run 4 monitors fine (not including its own display) on the macbook air m2 15in base model.

My friend got one and loves it! I’m very happy with my 13 inch M2 MacBook Pro so I’m sticking with that.

I just ordered this in the Midnight color!! I'm upgrading it from my 2019 15 inch which while is sill good and works fine, it's been getting hotter and slower (which of course it did after I had talked about how I wasn't haven't any of those problems). For my personally I got a 1tb of storage and 16gb of ram. I like more storage, and I'm slowly working towards nursing school so that little extra bit of ram will be nice. Honestly I'm really excited! I get a screen that is more or less the same size as the 16 inch pro model, still getting the same amount of storage and ram but it's so much cheaper.

For most people the MBA 15inch 16GB/ 512SSD is the one to get. Still way cheaper than the pro. And also you get a discount right now.
