One of the biggest improvements in my gardens has been the use of multi-sowing. The spring onions especially grow so much better and more productive when sown 5 or 6 per cell instead of just one as I used to do. The same has been true for beets, carrots, etc.. Thanks for that suggestion! :-)

I've learnt so much from you over the past 18 months through the pandemic. I recently planted a veggie patch from seed and I haven't bought any veggies for nearly 6 months. Thank you!

Charles out there in shorts and sandals and I'm hedging my bets by only putting 2 of 3 snow shovels away. Greetings from Canada.

Thank you Charles for all of your hard work and diligence over many years. What an encouragement and wealth of knowledge you have been for my wife and I. We are in Georgia USA and this is only our second year of gardening. Last year we only did a summer garden, but from here on out we plan to keep our garden full all year. We had no concept on how to do this until we came across you. We have over 1200 square feet of garden all no dig, we raise all of our little plants as seedlings, we’ve started our own compost bins, and much more. I absolutely love watching these little amazing plants grow from tiny seeds and pop them in the garden and watch them grow and give us delicious food. A little over a year ago, we had absolutely no concept about any of this. Thank you so much! You are like the master Yoda of gardening!
(PS: we bought your dibber and like 20 of your cd 60 trays. The trays and fantastic! So easy and so user friendly. If anyone is debating on getting them, go ahead and get them. They make things SO much easier. It’s great to be able to pop smaller younger plants into the garden- less transplant shock, quicker to grow. Yesterday, I just transplanted raddish and turnips from your trays that were less than 2 weeks old! The root balls were already solid and they were ready to go in the ground.— one of the benefits of smaller cells that require less compost) THANK YOU!
We hope to be able to come to the UK someday to visit!

Charles, For the Fig Tree, I've had one in a small space in for a number of years, I found that cutting the main trunk back to as low as two feet, was ideal; it gave me many new limbs in the following year; I selected seven of the healthiest and trimmed back the rest (it's akin to pollarding in a way... the trunk produces lots of new growth each year, you select the best to continue). One additional point that I would recommend. I notice that there wall was previously whitewashed, or limed wall behind you on the side of that building; I'd highly recommend that you renew that whitening. I had to repaint a whitewash wall behind the tree, and from that year the figs matured enough to eat. (the building looks old enough to be from the time of self sufficiency, I tend to trust the traces that our forebears left behind); As for the figs... Those big leaves need a lot of light, so any reflected light really helps bring on the fruit.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your garden.

Fun video. You were my encouragement to start proper winter gardening (not just cover crops) here in Northern California. Brussels, lettuces, spinach, Swiss chard, cilantro, and more all thrived. Thank you!

a really nice video Charles. I love the small garden. People really don't understand how much you can grow in just a 3 x 3 meter space. I always got a lot from mine. Multiple planting and multi sewing seed. I always put a turnip green around the edge called seven top. Many many great harvests from a small space year round. Great videos always Charles Thank You very much

Thank-you Charles for your sharing of knowledge. May every 365 days of the coming year be filled with abundance, rain, sun, wind, produce and people. After watching your videos I am converting my back garden vege plot into no-dig with compost and are going to put no-dig beds on my from lawn. Stirlingshire, small plot 1/5 acre with 3 boundaries of 50 yr ol Leilandii which I have learnt to garden with. Many, many thanks.
