As Tensions Mount in Northern Kosovo, Will Serbia Deploy Troops?

Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia along their border have reached boiling point once again. NATO has urged both countries to lower the temperature and coordinate with its peacekeeping mission to ensure the safety of ALL citizens. It made the call after Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic asked the NATO-led forces in Kosovo to let him deploy Serbian troops and police to the border.

Scuffles broke out over the weekend between protesters and police, raising fears of further escalation. In recent weeks, minority Serbs in northern Kosovo have responded violently to moves by Pristina they see as anti-Serb. On Saturday, they blocked the main roads after the arrest of a former Serb policeman. Meanwhile, a stun grenade was thrown at a car belonging to the European Union mission in Kosovo. There were no injuries.

I have never understood the point of countries not recognizing their breakaway regions as independent. Especially if they have went to war and lost before. If they go to war with each other its sad and sucks but if they do and by the chance Kosovo wins then Serbia needs to stand down. If Kosovo looses then Serbia will have to deal with rebellion after rebellion and internal conflict. Hopefully it gets resolved but I don't see why license plates would start something this large or even someone suspected of terrorism getting arrested. To me it seems Serbia is just picking up crumbs to start a war. But even though they have a larger force time and time again the underdog has slapped larger powers.

Interviewing Behgjet Pacolli who was famous for his lobbying of Kosovo independence in Libya when Gaddafi's associates ordered his delegation to dance and sing for Gaddafi personally. When they had used all their repertoire, Gaddafi addressed Pacoli with the words that he would never recognize a fake country run by "American poodles" and they were sent back to the Tripoli airport. If this guy is relevant to talk about anything then journalism hits bottom low.
