Hi Guys!! Hi Adam!!

I would like to add something.

Using the VCA fader in this tutorial affects the gain input of the reverb. In this case it is not a big deal but imagine you had a parallel compression going on. Once you change the level of your instruments, the compression "effect" will change as well resulting in a different sonic characteristics of the mix.

There is million ways of overcoming this but the most important one is to UNDERSTAND it.

I tend to use "3-stage summing" when routing drums on mixdown. You could also set all your sends on pre fader and put the VCA fader to control the compression AUX too. It all goes down to what your private preference is.

Thank you Adam and keep up the good work!!! :)

Sweet tips. Now I actually know what a VCA does, it controls the sources assigned to it regardless of the outputs to which they are routed. Excellent tutorial.

Best explanation of VCA fader in Logic Pro I've found, especially regarding advantages. Thx!

Hmm. I always wondered what the VCA was for in Logic but never bothered to research it until now. Time to change my workflow. Thanks for the tutorial very helpful.

If you need to adjust the volume of a bunch of tracks, instead of sending them to an Aux or VCA, simply highlight all the tracks you want adjusted and all the faders will move together, no matter which fader you grab. Effects will follow as long as your send is post-fader.

I think there's a collapse-mode for those VCA groups. Set them individually and then collapse and use 1 VCA fader. I wish for it to be easier to distinguish between different types in the mixer. It looks impressive but it's hard to find things.

I've wondered how to get a reverb sound but get rid of the actual instrument. Now I know. Thanks. I'll give it a go. Some ghost reverbs & delays "might" sound interesting.

Basically, VCA for playbacks and Aux sends for effects.

Wrong! You have more control under Sends option by simply choosing Post Pan, Post Fader and Pre Fader....one of those could control your wet signal volume-wise and Pan-wise.
Basically you have limited control over sends! Wrong move...i'll rather stick with Aux.

I learned something new here. Thank you.

Thanks for this tutorial! Quick question: Is it possible to use inserts on VCA Fader submixes e.g. putting compression or tape emulators. I'm always looking for ways of saving CPU. This is a good tip but i do like to add some character to my submixes when I use Aux'.
