Nice thorough video. A friend of mine who knows everything about everything recommended these anchors. I have to anchor a gazebo to a concrete pad. This video explains how to do the holes perfectly.

Great Video! I always try to have a small shop vacuum handy when I have to drill masonry. I think it prevents a lot of that unhealthy dust from going everywhere. I understand there are times when you won't be able to have a vac with you.

Make sure to clean out all the concrete dust from the hole, bore out your hole a half inch from the top more then the main hole so the wedge goes in deep and doesn’t get stuck, place the washer and nut on before you really hit it hard with the hammer or else the nut won’t screw on the threads and ratchet the nut tight and cut it off to make it look pretty.you must use a hammer drill or a drill with the hammer setting to drill into cement.

Well done, thank you for the info. This should save me some headaches.

My cheap Chinese masonry wedge sleeve anchors also came with split lock washers, do you not think they are necessary?

What would make the wedge anchor not grab in the concrete? It just turns when tightening the nut? Even with using the specified sized drill bit

FYI - to save anyone from making the same mistake I did: you need a "rotary hammer" to drill into hard concrete, which is what he has in this video; "hammer drill" and "rotary hammer" are not the same thing.

I originally purchased a hammer drill and spent 6 hours attempting to drill 16 3/8 inch holes into a slab. I went through 4 drill bits before I gave up and went home for the day. After doing a little more research I realized I purchased the wrong tool. I took the hammer drill back the next day and replaced it with a rotary hammer and, would you believe it, I finished the remaining holes in a matter of minutes. The difference is astounding! Hope this helps.

Would love it if you mentioned how deep you were drilling for that particular wedge

Why not use a shop vac instead of a blower?

The ring doesn't go down. The flared part is pulled up on the ring.
