70s Radio Hits on Vinyl Records (Part 7)

If you were to be invited to a 1970s themed costume party, what outfits would come to your mind first? A Disco diva or funky Soul Train dancer perhaps...maybe you and your partner will dress like Sonny & Cher or Captain & Tennille...David Bowie alone has a dozen iconic looks that could be copied. However it is unlikely it would occur to you to put on a curly wig and dark glasses to dress like Jeff Lynne from ELO or to don a white T-shirt and jeans and go as member of Foreigner or Thin Lizzy. Even though Rock played such a prominent role in the musical landscape of the 70s, Pop culture focused almost entirely on all the other genres the decade had to offer. This episode is a tip of the hat to the musicians and bands that let bell bottoms and platform heels get all the attention while they secretly dominated everyone's radio waves and consciousnesses with their voices and guitars.

This installment of 70s Radio Hits features some of the Rock songs that gained the most radio airplay in the latter half of the decade. Many iconic artists that did not chart or gain airplay during that period were intentionally excluded. These giants of Rock have not been forgotten and are featured in our Album Rock series. The same rule applies to the versions of songs we used in this video. These are the edited tracks that were played by radio stations. The full length album versions in all their epic greatness will show up elsewhere on our channel in the future.

Mahalo for watching and stepping into the time capsule with Z-Bear!

The best thing to come out of the turbulent 60's was the music and it carried through the free spirited 70's. Cool stuff! Thank you Z Bear.
