What’s your ideal gearing? Who wants to see SRAM vs Shimano? 👇🏻

I’ve gone full 1x. Red 46T x 10-44. Zero chain drops. Plenty of gear range for steep descents down AF Canyon or climbing up Guardsman Pass. (Currently riding 700x32 PZeros that measure 34).

Looks like SRAM finally nailed it. I have the previous Force AXS and I am 95% satisfied. No issues with chain drops for me, I only wish that the front shifts were a little quicker. Haven't had any issues with dropping or rear shifting. Ran the rear derailleur battery down to zero once and just swapped it with the front like you did and I made it home just fine. The new shifters do look more comfortable.

1 dropped chain is still to much, Dura ace di2, 2.5 years and not once has it dropped a chain. Then the hydraulic brake fluid, DOT 5.1 really, give me mineral oil every day of the week. The rear shifts still aren’t as smooth as the current dura ace, never mind the new 1 that’s on the horizon. Sram off road, shimano on road. Keep up the good vids.

I'm using SRAM XPLR 1x13 on an Enve Fray. It's been flawless! I'm not sure I would ever go back to a 2X. I'm using 44T with 32mm Conti tires. The brakes are the best in class! I would argue ergonomics are also the best. I am a longtime Shimano Dura Ace Di2 user. I came from 12 speed DA Di2

Regarding black chainrings the force chainrings are the same weight, cheaper, and black. They look better than red tier in my opinion

Nice meeting you at Canyon HQ two weeks ago. Yeah, the new Red AXS is better than the previous gen. The bonus buttons are so cool, and I use them all the time. I agree that the shape of the hoods is much better than the previous iteration as they play better with my smaller hands.

What bike is that at 8:22? It is fire.
Right after the Scott/Specialized mention. Black Melee?

Have you any idea on timing of new Force?

Is the reach in hoods line about 1cm longer? As I looks they are longer? Would you need to change handlebar with shorter reach to keep same geometry compere with older Red or Force?

Thanks for letting me know it still drops once every 7 months. That’s abit too much for me, and I am sticking with Shimano unless I am going 1 by.

Excellent video. I've had the previous Red AXS group for 9 months thanks to the discount. I love being able to wrap the top of the lever hoods. The fact that they are thick gives me more options. How about the new levers for that more aerodynamic grip on top? I see little surface area.

Highest grp set but if you ha e to carry an extra battery in precaution ... it might change the statement.

It's interesting how the road gtp set is still a bug question mark when they nailed it for off road

have been on a mix of rival and force for a few years and always been happy after years on shimano. Looking forward to a full upgrade when the new force arrives. Cannot really justify red. Rival brakes have always worked but never felt they were operating well or as they should be. i have a spare axs battery in my pack for whole day rides and also a cell battery in case.

Nice considered video, as usual. DuraAce seems to be the standard against which others are measured, which poses the question 'Why look elsewhere?'. And as Ultegra offers almost the same for less dollar? An affordable option for most is already on the table for a lot less than half the price, so Red would have to be unbelievably good to justify the investment.

I have a frankenstein gearing setup, akin to having two independent 1x drivetrains. Shimano 12-speed DA shifters and derailleurs. 105 11-36 cassette. P2M GX PM with Shimano GRX 48-31 chainrings. Rotor Aldhu Carbon 155mm cranks with a 'road' chainline 30mm spindle. With this setup I hardly shift the front chainrings. A wide range cassette is more than about having low climbing gears. The biggest benefit is less shifting on the FD as it allows you to stay on the big ring most of the time.

I’ve had no chain drops (unlike the old version). I have however had to have both shifters replaced under guarantee! Right for a loose lever and left for a click. As a result bike out of action for weeks. Braking is awesome but the front brake chews up the supplied pads, I have changed to more expensive ones.

My Creo kept dropping its chain from the 44T front chainring. I took it to the local specialized dealer who said it was a known issue on that bike, and they were able to fix it pretty fast. I think they replaced the front chainring and the chain. No dropped chains since, that was 3 months ago.

'prolly my overall dream road groupset, the complete lack of wires seals that.
