The number one sign that your child is eating too much sugar is moodiness. Changes with their mood like grouchiness, irritability, and whining may be happening because they're consuming too much sugar. 

Popular foods for kids that have hidden sugar:
• Orange juice
• Apple sauce 
• Fruit juice
• Fruit snacks
• Granola bars 
• Vitamin water
• Mac' n' cheese

Moodiness can be the first symptom, because what happens is the blood sugars go up, insulin kicks in and pushes the blood sugars down, and now they have low blood sugar. Moodiness is a symptom of low blood sugar. 

Sugar, in general, interferes with different parts of the brain and the production of certain neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. These neurotransmitters calm the nervous system. 

Sugar blocks the absorption of vitamin C. In the presence of sugar, the body can't absorb vitamin C. Vitamin C is necessary to make neurotransmitters. 

Sugar also depletes zinc, vitamin B1, potassium, and magnesium. All of these are key minerals and vitamins that help calm a child down. 

When a child is consuming too much sugar, they could:
• Be hyperactive
• Have attention deficit problems
• Have a difficult time learning, studying, and retaining information

If your child has any mood issues, you may want to check their blood sugars first. It may also be beneficial to get them on a special eating plan called healthy keto. If you do this, I think you'll notice a huge change in your child's mood, ability to focus, and self-control.

I can attest to this: my three boys all eat keto. And when they do NOT... we ALL suffer. It’s complete chaos, tantrums, bad choices, climbing walls, emotional outbursts.... you name it. My boys are 7, 6, and almost 3. Keto has done WONDERS for our family, and will make homeschooling that much easier.

Toss the sugar and flour, eat a variety of organic veggies, organic meat, and lots of shell fish! I lost weight (fat) and have such a peaceful ride through each day. When a negative occurs in the day, then I just laugh! Laughter is awesome! Put the pressure on the system and never on yourself. Peace be with you!

This is ABSOLUTELY correct. I worked in a behavioral unit in an elementary school, k-3. All those kids ever ate were carbs and sugar. Minute amounts of protein. Ice cream at lunch, always. It was SO frustrating for me to watch because I knew this information.

The term "Sugar" is confusing to many. Most apply the term sugar to sweet things. Sugar --> CARBS.

The kids get all sugared up and when they don't behave, it's ritalin to the rescue. Thank God more and more are turning away from the SAD diet 💪

From Seattle. Thank you Dr Berg. I began watching your YouTube channel in June of this year and since then I've lost 28 lb on keto and intermittent fasting. I eliminated sugar from my diet. I do use monk fruit occasionally. I have less joint pain and inflammation as a result Thank you for your awesome videos they are so informative.
I have also modified my 9-year-old grandsons diet by eliminating snack foods for the most part. His dessert will be right after his dinner to avoid additional insulin spikes. Thanks to you, hopefully he will not have the same weight issues as I did because of poor new choices and poor eating habits.

If I eat sugar, it makes me feel groggy, almost like I drank a glass of wine (I have a very low tolerance for alcohol).
What’s horrifying is to see kids who hydrate with soda all day. Doomed from the start.

It's actually horrifying to me to see how many children and teenagers are being diagnosed with ADD and ADHD and prescribed Ritalin by their doctor...it actually changes the brain chemistry long term...the food we eat plays such an important part & this is what needs to be changed...not simply taking a pharmaceutical drug ( so many side-effects)!!

People know this. They just don’t know how much sugar is in foods that they think is healthy. They think sugar is just in candy, cereal, and pop tarts.

I just had to share this as I was horrified at what I saw - at a friends place this morning (Im in Australia) and her 12 yr old daughter was having a bowl of cereal. I dont know what the cereal was but she added 2 HEAPED tablespoons full of white sugar! and when she opened the cupboard I noticed the bottom two shelves where totally stuffed with sugary and chip snacks. Now my friend knows I do a keto diet and the reasons why, but I was horrified to see this lovely young girl eating so much sugar. AND this child has been wearing glasses for at least 5 yrs and has bad teeth - no surprises there!!
