It works, for normal videos at least, it doesn't work for some gaming videos (from my experience), it seems to still be horrible with fast paced games like COD gameplay and rocket league and anything fast paced

The sudden cause of it is you have a weak processor or a low end phone when you got a "VP9" codec (Codecs are the part of video decoding, mostly h.264 aka avc1 is the most common low bitrste among low end phones and vp9 is the high quality decoder) theres no sudden fiz for that but a daily optimizing like this should help but it'll stay in your phone permanently
