How to Install the Sims 2 in 2023 on Windows 10 [UPDATED GUIDE]

In my last video from 2020 I explained how to install the Base Game as well as Expansion Packs. That Guide is now partially outdated. The Base Game installation still works to some extende, but I recommend following this Guide to be up to date.
Please refer to my 2020 video if any questions arise that I answered there :). Especially when it has to do with the Base Game Installation.

In short, here are the written steps:
1) Get a drive that can read the disc format you have
2) Install the base game and expansions

Run the administration as admin and use the cmd window (run as admin!) if necessary to get around restrictions or red error messages. You can sometimes copy contents of the disc to the PC and run the autorun from there but not always

7) Refer to the guide for correct settings

8) Create a shortcut and add -w at the end of the Target in the Shortcut Properties

9) Start the Game and adjust the settings in game as you like

The guy who made the tutorial keeps shouting that it's very important for the GPU to be Vulkan compatible? Does that even matter after all? I know for me Sims 2 was working on my Dual GPU laptop just fine back when it was on Windows 7 and now it's all laggy. I would like to follow this step by step guide, but I really don't understand why this guy keeps fussing about Vulkan compatible. I'm confused.

I tried to put sims 2 on my windows 10 yesterday the base game installed completely fine and I was able to play, but when I tried to install the university expansion pack it started to install fine but when they wanted me to put in the 4th disc of the base game to update the game it stopped and told me that the update process did not complete successfully, installation will now terminate. What do I do?

I've just watched your tutorial after failing to launch The Sims 2 and it SAVED ME.
I have some expasion packs I want to install, should I delete the 4GB Patch from The Sims 2 folder before copying it to the latest expasion pack folder ?
