I am 50, and since my early 20s have been washing my bedding, WITH fitted sheet and blanket, every week. Have never destroyed a washer, nor have I ever had a balance shutdown.

In college I always washed my fitted sheets with a blanket and every other thing that was on the bed. Never had a problem so long as I set it to “bulky items.” Gotta distribute everything evenly so the weight doesn’t become imbalanced

The amount of science knowledge Jardoon has is amazing for being a full time gamer.

my roommate once washed his stuff (hes huge, so are his clothes) with a fitted sheet. The washingmashine tumbled down the small ledge it stood on, and fell over. Luckily nothing broke, and also it was his washing machine lol

Most modern washers have shake detection, and will automatically stop if they detect that the balance is off long long before they self destruct

My washer fortunately shuts off when it gets unbalanced. I’ve had this happen recently.

Bro I’ve done this multiple times and never see anything bad come of it, like unless you’re just wrapping the fitted sheet around the blanket to make a ball then I don’t think something like this could happen

Done it hundreds of times, never had a problem.

This is why you are supposed to evenly distribute the weight throughout the tank.

For the longest time I used laundry Matt washers so I never had shake and balance issues but now my washer does the poor balance jingle when I wash pillows and multiple blankets. Those two always decide to stick to one side of the drum.

In my experience washing any kind of blanket or sheet is fine as long as you're careful - make sure the thing isn't twisted or wrapped around itself at all, loosely bundle it together without rolling it up, and put it in. Repeat the process when putting in the dryer.

Otherwise, I haven't had a catastrophe like this, but i've had regular sheets and blankets get all twisted up so they don't get dry in the dryer.

I always have, fitted, blanket, comforter, pillow cases. All at once. 15 years never an issue.

This was an issue with certain samsung top loads a while back. They have a recall for it, call samsung support to get more info. most washers don't do this

A word to the wise: Overloading your washing machine or allowing it to spin with an uneven load, can break the spider that's attached to the back of the drum! Also, if your machine is over 10 years old the spider can disintegrate into metal like dust just as mine did last year. POOF! no washer for a few months cause the part was on backorder everywhere. *sigh

Meanwhile I have a hand-me-down cheapy washing machine from like 2001 that auto shuts off when it gets unbalanced.

It takes like 2 large oscillations and it cuts power

I think about this reaction every time I wash sheets and blankets. I have an older washing machine.

If you don't have a washer that automatically shuts down for uneven loads, just listen for the "thump thump"s and stop the washer.

Washing pillows, etc. I've had plenty of thumpy laundry cycles; never once broke a machine.

Most washers have a sensor that detects an out of balance load and shut off, thus preventing that

This is why I love front loaders, it's always unbalanced by design and gravity does the hard work
