In Denmark we call this kind of a "Worker's Christmas". When the bank holidays fall on the weekends we call it "Employers' Christmas".

Remember to squeeze your loved ones on those days. It's not really a nordic tradition, but traditions have to start somewhere.

I have Fridays off, so I took three days vacation this year to have 17 days straight. A good year.

I had a manager that when we had an odd day like that between the weekend and a holiday told us we had better things to do than to work and he better not see any of us in the office. It cost the company very little and bought a lot of loyalty and good will in return.

In German they're called "Brückentage" which literally translated means "bridge days" haha

(Swede here) I took 5 days off and now I have a total of 24 days long Christmas vacation! :)

I love working during those weeks. Everyone else is off, my office is so quiet. It's great.

In American they're called "work days". Don't be late.

Epiphany (6 January) is also a holiday, so even more squeeze days in January!

There are other good date layouts but this exact one will happen next in 2030 and then after that in 2041.

Interesting. In Italian instead we say "fare ponte" (literally, "to make bridge") when you can take one or two vacation days to "join" two festive days.

Meanwhile in America: "I know you've worked unpaid overtime every day for the past two years without taking a single day off, but I just can't approve your sick day for this..." _checks notes_ "heart attack. I expect you to be in at your usual time, or you will be written up. Have a nice day!"

Here in Spain we call those days "puente" (bridge).

The grind never stops when you work with horses 😂 No squeeze days for me, only squeeze horses ❤

Ahhh, Brückentage!

Yeah but that's a good point. This year is fire 🔥

You should follow the example of South Africa. We just take those days off. It's an unspoken rule that any holiday a day away from a weekend means a weekend.

This is the best year for the holiday and I was ecstatic when I learned this late September 😂
