Personally I think the Nokta Makro Simplex is the best of the two detectors, Depth wise and a lot more options.

I'm not sure I agree with you on the Multi-Frequency discussion. There are certainly frequencies that are "better" for certain types of targets. But you can still find those targets with a non-optimized frequency. So the idea that you would have to go over a yard three times with a single frequency detector is very misleading. There is no real need to do that. For example, silver coins tend to like lower frequencies. So the 5khz frequency of the Vanquish would give a slight edge over the 12khz of the Simplex. But you will only see any noticeable difference on the response you get on a very deep silver coin. And if the Simplex has good depth on silver even though it uses 12khz as its frequency, then the difference is minimal at best. I'm not trying to say that there aren't benefits to multi-frequency. But the benefit you stated really isn't the real reason to go for multi-frequency machines. The real benefit of multi-frequency in my opinion is in target identification. Multi-ID technology seems to give you an edge in filtering out iron because it can look at the iron response from several frequencies instead of just one. Like most single frequency machines, the Simplex gets fooled on big iron very easily. The Vanquish has the edge in this regard from what I have seen. The Vanquish also does better on mineralized ground and wet salty sand due to the multi-frequency capability. It just seems like a much more stable machine overall.

Thanks for the honest review. I am still waiting for the Vanquish to arrive at Kellyco because I'd rather buy from a reputable dealer than a big box store. Both machines are great values, but I want the Multi-frequency, so Minelab it is!

Appreciate the video. Really though there is no point in pitting the Vanquish against the Simplex+. It isn't a battle or my machine is better that yours thing. They are both great machines but suit different purposes. The Simplex+ is a great all rounder but if your searching is on the beach, where mine is then I will take the Vanquish. If I want to go in the water I buy the Equinox. If on the other hand most of my detecting is inland and occasionally on the beach then the Simplex+ makes more sense. If you can afford it buy both. And if you have to choose one, just choose on the basis of where you hunt the most. One isn't better than the other, just different :)

Comparing my Vanquish 540 to my Simplex, I would say that the simplex performes at least as well and has better pinpointing than the Vanquish.

Its not about the machine its about the person using it i use the v3i and nokta anfibio multi. I owned an etrac sold it couldn't bond with it that makes the difference. Dosen't matter if u jump on the nox bandwagon. If u can't bond with it .its useless to
