Ok, I admit that I'm not a detector person, but I bought one for 25 dollars at a pawn shop for one reason only, to find my 4 survey pins from 1954. I wanted to put up a fence, but didn't want to pay a professional surveyor to find them. After finding them, now I want to look for more things.

I have been detecting for over 50yrs, beware of what you see on these YouTube channels. They are paid to put these certain machines on there. I hunt with the Deus 2, Minelab Manticore, Nokta Legend & Minelab 900. If your looking for a good beginner metal detector for the money, look at the Nokta Simplex Ultra. I am 71 and not being paid anything to say this.

Ive a Garret AT pro, love it just remember folks the average depth of things is about 8 inch and the lower end detectors are quite capable of finding stuff even the modest garret 150 which is readably priced . And the real kicker is, is that if you spend over a grand for a detector your not guaranteed to find the find of a lifetime you have to be over the top of it to start with, so choose wisely .

Urm the equinox 800 is rechargeable by usb, it doesn't use double A batteries.
