Considering that:

1. Starship has not even orbited yet
2. Starship does not even have a cockpit yet
3. Gateway does not exsist yet.

Yes... Yes, a delay is a forgone conclusion.

The big problem is they have made this trip to the Moon so complex that there are too many things to go wrong. When we went to the Moon before, the system was much simpler and we did it successfully all those years ago.

Starship haven't reached orbit yet .
So no validation of refueling in orbit as of now.
The whole starship is not human rated as of now.
Landing a very tall object on uneven surface with elevator for ingress and egress is still a questionable choice.
The other competitors haven't displayed anything.
The proposed orbit is pretty much new.
The gateway is not realised yet...
We'll have to wait

Artimus is a dead duck. It's going to take 17 rockets to refuel it in space which has never ever been tried and its silly lunar eliptical orbit that takes it miles out then close in, back and forth means it cannot even do a lunar landing in that orbit.

"yet to reach orbit" tell that to the algorithm showing me this rn

The suite are the single most important issue as I see it. Space X will get the hardware issues solved and fulfill its NASA contract. I see no technical issues here on Space X part.

Boeing and Intel have been underperforming lately.

SpaceX will probably use starship to handle the lunar landing testing... without actually using Artemis. 😳

It is not the Starship that determines the delay. I is the novel, never tried new non elliptical trajectory around the Moon's south pole with many OPEN questions, including communications, actual high fuel requirements of that lunar approach, a day lasting trajectory. The fuel transfer to the Starship requires many more fuel transfer events than the launch to Mars. The idiocy of the selected NASA lunar landing technique is astounding, nothing like the direct approach of the Apollo program. It will probably be revised totally, causing significant additional delay.
It is not spaceX, not the unknown timeline, but the super complicated lunar approach and orbit.

I love space and everything about going to distant places and humans being able to build outposts on other moons or planets but could we explore the depths of our oceans and come up with ways to feed and house the millions of people living on the streets in poverty. This is America, we could do great things here and up there.

Chopstick landing tower will catch Starship from the top to take advantage of center of gravity.
Trying to land a 164’ tall Starship on its butt on the moon’s uneven ground with loose regolith is needlessly dangerous.

What blows your mind is that 55 years ago we put men on the Moon with a much simpler launch and transfer system and did it six times without a single loss of life. Apollo 13 did not land on the Moon but they made it back alive.

Of course the next moonlanding is being delayed. The schedule was very, very tight in the first place for a space program on a tight budget. Star ship is just one of the components not ready (while it might be the component furthest from completion with none of the internal systems for the lander yet adressed to my knowledge).

I remember hearing about when the Artemis missions would land on the moon in 2024. It’s sad that there has been so many delays😢. At this point I will be happy if China beats the US. All I want is a human presence on the moon.

NASA should’ve chosen the alpaca lander
(Nothing against spacex)

May be more realistic to use whatever rockets available now to put some small unmanmed stations on the moon 1st to establish control over area around it. Waiting for the perfect manned system could cost the US to lose in the race to claim good locations on the moon.

I WISH this could be a WORLD thing!!! That everyone gets excited for and focuses on!! STOPS THE MADNESS going on right now for a while!!!
Them everyone sees that we ALL are together and hoes back home after MISSON ACCOMPLISHED!!! blazes some motá as SEES!!!
wow! We all need to chill out! We were all getting along for our science projects work!🥰🥰
Thatd be a BEAUTIFUL thing!!

Got to make it into orbit first without blowing up. A pre-orbital unscheduled deconstruction.
