About this post…👇
Don’t get distracted.
This post is not about the exercise itself. It’s about the most important attribute to develop
If you want to get good at anything: consistency.
This shit takes time, and it takes a strong will to do the real work LONG ENOUGH without getting distracted by flashy shit…
It takes a tremendous amount of courage to do the same stuff OVER and OVER, and get better at THAT THING.
On the other hand, it takes little effort to do a try new shit every single day.
Sure, if you train for fun, by all means do whatever you want. I am also not saying there is not a place for variety — there is, and it’s a huge part of smart programming.
That being said…
🏋️♂️A powerlifter doesn’t stop doing deadlifts because he/she saw a new exercise on Instagram.
🏃♂️A runner doesn’t stop running and start swimming for the sake of having fun.
♟A chess player doesn’t start juggling to get a transferable effect of brain power to the game of chess.
They do the thing they want to get good at.
Over and over and over and over…
If you are not progressing as you want in ANY particular movement/skill ask yourself these questions:
1. Are you doing the movement correctly?
2. Are you doing the movement often enough?
3. Have you done the movement long enough?
4. Are you progressively making the movement harder?
Do that, eliminate the distractions, and see how far your body will go. And if you are still not making progress after MONTHS/YEARS, then there might be some deeper things to look at.
