Here we are together, at the end of an era. With "Bonfire (A Rest)" hailing as my final Dark Souls song, it felt appropriate to pay tribute to the serene melancholy of gathering around a flame and resting while bumping into other travelers of the same need. Somewhere along the way, it turned into a ballad of friendship and comradery, much like an end-of-the-year holiday gathering among old acquaintances. I suppose this is about as seasonal as a Dark Souls song could be! I've even gone and edited in a little extra holiday cheer.

Thank you all for being here with me on my journey through these transitory lands.

This is not only a ballad for Dark Souls and it’s ambiguous beauty, but a ballad for the die-hard Aviators fans that hear all the references to previous songs in the lyrics 🥹🥹

This was probably my favourite track from Modern Mythology; It gives off such a distant, happy feeling, that is rarely found in Souls which gives it all the more power.

I love how this song frames those fleeting moments of rest, you stop to level up, equip yourself, plan where to go next or just to breathe. And then around you, you see other players who, like you, are resting from the battles that we all try to overcome, strangers who remind you that you are not alone, fellow travelers with unknown names who through messages or jolly cooperation in combat, will accompany you on the adventure.

In the end we will always gather together around the bonfire.🔥

God, this feels so inspiring, but so melancholy at the same time. Darksouls may be at its end, but it paved the way for a legacy that will last decades. Sit with me fellow undead, and bath in the golden light of the flame, among comrades and brothers.

Quite the send-off for the series, a song to share the delights we all had at the same bonfires dozens - hundreds - of times. Trials both in a game and in life, finding out respite in the comfort of strangers who'd never know our story and we'd never know theirs as for a brief moment we shared our rest at bonfires between the roughest of times before some of our greatest triumphs.

So, fractured and feeble - ordinary people - how about a little more jolly cooperation in the shadows of gods, lands long forgotten, and at the ends of time? Till we meet again at a bonfire!
