As a former oral surgery assistant, I thank you for bringing these to people's attention. I can't tell you how many times regular dentists botched tooth removals, leaving parts of the tooth in the jaw, the site would get infected, and we would have to go in and get those parts out. This is extremely painful, inconvenient, and unnecessary for those patients. If only their dentists had referred them to a surgeon in the first place.

I went to a dentist here in Sunrise FL because a filling had fallen out and the dentist said I needed a root canal and a crown which he did. After he had done the root canal he was letting the technician do the fitting and I heard him in the other room yelling“What are you doing you're ruining my machine, ” in a very angry tone then a few minutes later he was in the room with me behind me with the technician who had just been trying to fit me for a crown and I heard him whispering to her one foot behind me if I could find whoever taught you to do this I would tear their hands off. Then he begins to proceed to show her how to do it correctly and I go home and come back when they have the crown to fit my tooth and after they fit the tooth I feel something touching and he grinds something off and does this repeatedly four times and I still feel something touching and eventually I go home he says if I have a problem to come back and ever since then I continue to feel something touching and after two months I go and he says well it is because my wisdom tooth is too close to that tooth so I go to get a second opinion and they say both of my lower wisdom teeth are infected and I need to have them removed which I ended up doing and Even so occasionally I still feel discomfort where the crown is. My question is can another dentist look at that crown and tell if it is seated correctly? I don't want to go back to this dentist ever again. At the same time, I don't want to have an infection to occur underneath that crown and cause me health problems

How does a patient know if he has a good dentist on an initial visit?

My dentist left infection under my tooth doing a root canal last day before Christmas break, after a few hours terrible pain again they had closed & wouldn’t answer my calls was in unbearable pain until I found a lifesaving Indian dentist who opened his shop for me & did a perfect job far from my home.They also said I had gum disease which my other dentist just said gum recession nothing to worry about lost 50 percent of my bone cause of their palming it of as nothing & his other root canal just came out after 6 years was lose and failed to notice on a check up & the gum recession due to it has removed 75 percent of the bone on a good before tooth. I hate them .

Im pretty sure my last dentist messed up. Teeth kept getting worse so decided to have the rest removed. Nearly all were damaged decently and figured to be the best long term solution.

But he did not know how to put the Novacane in and kept injecting me over and over snd mouth was hardly numb. It was painful to say the least.

But afterwards, even a month later and beyond, not so much now, but if i would blow my nose, i would feel a weird pressure in the area where he took out my left snd right molars. Felt very weird and not good.

There are also these dark spots on the back side of my gum. No idea what those are

Last year, few months ago, that’s what happened to me, drilling too far😢 I believe someday they will stand front Almighty God!!!

Sealants get reimbursed by insurances like $60, you can do 10 teeth in like 15 mins. Easiest $900 there is considering your assistant can do all of it (although I do my own with magnification, bonding, and isolation).

What kind of attitude would be tell tale if a parent brings up the subject of sealants?

Does the dentist perform the the IPR? Also the cleanings are done by the assistant or is the dentist performing cleanings in your office?

I just had my 6-month cleaning a my 4 cavities I had when I was 13 years old I had them replaced 3 years ago with white feeling I'm 62 and I do find it difficult to try to figure out what the dentist is doing 😄 I love, love the dentist office I have been going to for the last 3 years I always pray when I go that nothing ever happens and they try to charge me for something they mess up on cause how would you know 🤷🏽‍♀️💯‼️

If we see another dentist for a 2nd opinion or even for just an exam, won't the first dentist you no longer trust him or have lost faith in him and see that you took your money somewhere else? What if you want to go back to see him?

Why the HELL do you keep calling calculus DIRT??? Are you even a licensed dentist? I've never heard a dentist call calculus "dirt".
