Pro tip, Steam supports adding games outside of Steam to your local library. So you can add any games you want to use Proton with in Steam, and then launch them from Steam. And Arch or something Arch-based would probably outperform Ubuntu too, considering how Arch is a lot more lightweight

AMD Drivers are built right into the kernel. There is really no need to install AMD drivers unless you want the proprietary ones.

Tip for people thinking to switch to Ubuntu: Switching from Windows to Ubuntu is like switching from Windows to Mac, yes the company behind it is in some ways better, but they still are a company that doesn't really care about you. In Linux most distros are maintained by the community that uses it instead of a company looking to enshittify their product. Linux Mint being //the// example of a comunity driven newbie friendly distro.

for those who miss shadowplay/amd relive on linux: there's a program called gpu screen recorder and it does EXACTLY what shadowplay does, with the same UI too, it's very easy and you can even set the clip's fps to 120

Note: Windows 11 was made specifically around modern Intel hardware.
This has since caused lower performance for AMD hardware on Windows 11.
When it comes to Linux though, AMD had made their drivers Open-Source, allowing for better support by the community for AMD hardware on Linux.

I play geometry dash and I was very annoyed that I had to select only levels with primitive design and with a small number of effects and objects because I had terrible lag.
When I switched to linux (more specifically arch linux with linux-cachyos-bore) everything became much better: it stopped lagging, I could play even the most demanding levels without lags, even kocmoc without ldm and with hitboxes in the editor, nothing lags. The high preemption kernel is insane and ultra effective on using my resources.
The transition was not easy and I long “dived out and breathed” periodically switching back to windows and again “dived in” switching to arch linux.
Besides games, I also found freedom in customizing my system and how it looks :)

You should make a video comparing Windows to Nobara Linux, cause it's actually designed for gaming performance. Or Linux Mint, because it's an even friendlier distro that's pretty well regarded in the comunity (unlike Ubuntu).
