I remember back in around 2006 or 2007 when I first tried Linux I had a miserable experience trying to get Wine to work with Morrowind. It's a night and day difference today.

i dont know if google is still supporting wine, and considering how fast it start evolving after valve got involved, i doubt google had any significant contribution, the ammount of money they could invest would make things skyrocket even faster.

wine and forks are great. Too bad certain companies just vehemently despise linux and add code which forcibly breaks the program if you're using wine, and then they blame it on Linux.

Wine is going Wayland default, really something to look out if you're using Proton to game.

The funny part is, is that some games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R run better on wine linux (with the right configuration) than on windows apart from the fact that wine supports even unsupported versions of windows

Fireship released a video like yesterday that explains why Wine is obsolete. I can't remember why, but apparently you can run any game on a Mac now

I remember like 10 years ago trying to get Mineimator (a minecraft animation software) to run on the school pc of my brother with Wine. It was on Ubuntu. I remember too that this Pc was burning hot and i managed via thousand of hours of manipulation and doing commands that looks like Norway language, i managed to make the software work. At like 1 fps. Or more 1 frame all 3 seconds if i am generous. Ahhhh good old times

If WINE supports Visual FoxPro, MDAC, SQL Native Client, Crystal Reports, and .NET. Linux will really took off since enterprises uses internal applications written in VB6 and Visual FoxPro

WINE is fantastic. A shame it doesn't easily work with Reason / Cubase though
