What if we found the footprint marking the first time a fish stepped out of the water? Would it be okay to ruin it? If it's just a footprint... This isn't just any old footprint, it's the first footprint of the first humans leaving our first planet. It's a little more important than your average muddy track at home, isn't it? -- Trace

What I wonder about is what if we terraformed a planet at some point in the future? I think it'd be interesting to see how countries would try to work things out as far as each claiming an area of land and how much of it.

I like the fact that in space there are no countries. We're only earthlings.

The urge to keep the fruits of one's own labor is a naturally undying human characteristic. We may be an immensely social species, but we do have a great deal of individuality that balances it out. In short, we're cooperative but not hivemind.

The artifacts floating around in space are going to be around MUCH longer than even the pyramids of Giza. Humans 100, 000 years from now will probably want to check this stuff out. We should do everything we can to preserve as much of it as we can.

The Moon landing site should definitely be preserved for its historical importance in human history.

It'd be pretty cool to see a man-made terrarium planet. The problem would be it having enough mass to have a gravitational pull similar to earth. Unless, the faster an object comes to light speed, the greater it's relativistic mass, so it's gravitation pull should increase too, right?

Just under a year, my infant self thought it would be super fun to put may hand in a open power socket. Turned out not. I don't recall any pain, but I do remember my hand being black for a while.

the bags of fecal matter seem interesting now if any bacteria managed to survive in it we could learn a lot about how tough microbial life is

Wait... UNM is in Albuquerque. Did you mean NMSU?

Edit: I looked at the source and looked up the professor they mentioned. The professor teaches at NMSU, but graduated from UNM. The source was incorrect.

So does this mean V'Ger is coming for us in the future?

A question: You know how Mars could potentially be cured by the use of global warming, is it possible that we could create an atmosphere on the moon by globally warming it, or is it just a no go?

The countries that have landed on the moon should decide how much space each country should own. I think we should all own the same amount so we can't war over space.

Those treaties govern countries owning things in space, but what about private citizens? They were written long before private space flight was a possibility and long before it was a serious reality. Would these treaties still govern them or would they be free to do as they please?
