I work primarily with lead-free solder (Sn99/Agg0.3/Cu0.7 Rosin Core) and a pencil tip on a Weller solder station. 700F (375C) has been plenty for me to work very quickly on the lugs. A chisel tip would allow me to work at the same speed when soldering the backs of pots, but I've been able to make do with the pencil tip with patience alone.

My experience with computer keyboard modding tells me that 650F (350C) would be plenty for what I've got, but I feel 700F allows me to work just a little bit faster without risking damage to any of my components.

Use a fan to keep from inhaling the fumes, they may smell sweet but it’s worse for ya than refined sugar!
