What’s hindered you in the past is not permanent. That trouble at work is about to turn, that child that’s off course is about to turn, that depression you’ve been dealing with is about to turn. This is a new day. Forces that have held you back are being broken. I believe and declare what Zephaniah prophesied. Everything you’ve lost will be restored. Instead of shame, you will have honor. Burdens you’ve carried are being lifted. People that have hindered you are being moved out of the way. The sick are being healed. The prodigals are coming home. You will be respected wherever you go. It’s turnaround time. Thanks for reading this comment, I hope you are blessed and uplifted by it. We are a new and growing channel, your support and blessings is much appreciated. Thanks and God bless you. Amen

The greatest man in history is Jesus.

He had no servant, yet they called him master.

He had no degree, yet they called him teacher.

He had no medicines, yet they called him healer.

He had no army, yet kings feared him.

He won no military battle, yet he conquered

the world.

He committed no crime, yet they crucified

him.

He was buried in a tomb, yet he lives Today.

Amen.

If God hates the man that had everything taken from him and still forgave his brother then I fear for my soul.

This story confuses me, even when I was younger trying to imagine what it was like to be Esau. Also its weird to hear that God hated someone or even the fact it was preordained God to hate Esau is still something hard to think about

Stories like this make me doubt the notion of free will. I am troubled with my understanding of right and wrong. It seems it depends on how you look at it. I pray God opens my mind to understand before I die so I could praise Him without the fear of my ignorance.

The story has always been difficult, but I take exception to your title. God did not hate Esau. He was unhappy with Esau's choices but blessed him in the end when he and Jacob were reconciled.

What is it that I take away from this biblical story: This family is highly dysfunctional. Siblings are tricking each other and their parents out of inheritance. My parents are bamboozling each other because of favoritism of their children. I have seen dysfunctionality in families before and this is exactly what it looks like. Only question I have is why did this family even get started if they were going to lie to each other like this?

The lesson of this story is that NO ONE is innocent. Everyone is guilty of being wicked.

Alot of people who read this story have trouble understanding the morality issue. Our God wants the best for all of us so it is difficult to comprehend why he favored jacob over esau amd at first I felt the same way. The utter betrayal made me ask God why was Jacob favored if he betrayed his own good brother? But then I see that Jacob and Rebecca did meet the consequences of their actions. Jacob was forced to leave his home and people(which is painful), and serve another man for 14 years. Rebecca had to live with the fact that she caused her son to flee and not see him or know of his where abouts for awhile and lives with the guilt of betraying her other son. Esau became a leader of his own people/tribe and prospered he met Jacob years later and forgave and embraced his brother. But aside from the morality aspect, we need to understand the state of humanity. Us humans at the time were worshiping demons masquerading as gods, and God needed to gather his people and correct the world and Jacob was predestined to be the nation. I believe it's a matter of fate, forgiveness and endurance.

I just noticed how Jacob described seeing Esau like seeing God. Then by grace, Esau forgives and reconciles with Jacob.

i always found this story to be awful. Why would supposedly loving parents play such favorites? The father goes to give the blessings to his oldest child and the mom INTENTIONALLY STEALS IT FOR HER SECOND SON? What a horrible mom to do such a thing to her own son?

The saddest part of this story is how Rebecca had an integral part in causing division within her family. She tore it apart.

It's crazy that Jacob is the good guy after dishonor his father by bearing false witness to him. Kinda comes across like it worse to unconsciously sin, then intentionally sin. Odd

One question I always had concerning this incident, is that the Bible says if someone is hungry to feed them, so the only reason I can think of why Jacob would ask Esau for his "birthright" in exchange for something to eat is that perhaps God was working through Jacob, but it couldn't have been a test to see whether or not Esau "would" sell his birthright, because God already knew that Esau would sell it. It doesn't make sense that if your brother asks you for something to eat, that you ask him for all that he has, when God's Word says to feed those that are hungry. Why would Jacob ask for something in return? If Esau was such a good hunter why was he asking Jacob for food to begin with? What would have happened if Jacob would have given his brother something to eat without asking for anything in return, I guess we'll never know.

Also, Esau was considered lazy, but that doesn't add up, because it takes a lot of "work" to be a skilled "hunter", but Jacob liked to stay at home. These days it's the opposite that if you stay at home, they call you lazy.

What confuses me is God's favor and goodwill toward one over another. Deception and manipulation are bad, so why was Jacob rewarded? Why and how was he was able to do this? What did Esau do to deserve this? It reminds me of Cain and Abel. Is God's grand master plan fair? We often say "life isn't fair" to come to terms with misfortune. But why? Why is life not fair? Why did God create humans on earth where the devil roamed freely? Seems like a conflict of interest. What is the true model of goodness? Is it attainable? What are the laws of Heaven? What are the rules that govern God's judgment and favor?

Instead of being insulted thinking you're not called or chosen, humble yourself before Christ, acknowledge your deeds have been worthless and ask to be made a new creature in Him so that you may be grafted in not as a dog, but as a new Man/Woman of great faith. Knock while you still can.

I read this story and heard many sermons on this. Truthfully, I am very displeased with this deception and I have not yet comprehend how a people (nation) was being blessed from a lie. The only positive outcome from this was the two brothers reconciled. The off springs were more power driven like in today's time and crave violence. I see no justice.

Esau believed his birth right was inevitable, and "sold" it for a transitory advantage.
Jacob desired his father's blessing more than ANY thing, and won it.
It is a reminder to pursue God's will above ALL things, and He will reward us (even though we don't deserve it, and have no right to demand it).

He tricked his brother, tricked his father but he's the good guy in this story, how?! How can an unborn be condemned before he drew his first breath, how is that fair?
