Heather, thank you for this! I know Dr. M wanted to speak about coffees negative effects for his next talk. I so miss him and his Sunday talks with you and Mrs. Mary.

I’ve never been a coffee-drinker. I drink chicory-drink, i think it tastes good. And with a bit of beetroot-molasses/date syrup and homemade almond milk, you got youtself a caffe-latte👍🏻😋☕️

caffeine in my husband causes psychosis and rage. Yes I'm being serious. Doesn't matter what the source is. He developed mental health issues after the military and caffeine causes him to go crazy... for a lack of better words.

I like how Dr. McDougall gives such a nuanced answer here. I also appreciate his honesty in saying that "it has been his preferred beverage at times." I've certainly had a love/hate relationship with coffee over the years and still do.

I am down to one coffee first thing in the morning. I would really miss that.

Thank you! I forgot about the fatty acids that raise blood cholesterol but only if you don’t run the coffee through a paper filter. Also it is good to be reminded about the alkaloids. I am mostly switched over to tea, but I have enough information now to decide fully to complete the switch. Thank you!

A good book on the subject is Caffeine Blues, though even the author of that admitted to still drinking coffee occasionally.

Thanks, I came to your videos quite late to you in your career and was interesting work. Appreciated. Had my first coffee in about 3 weeks today

I drink one cup of coffee every morning. I do use a paper filter in my Ninja Duo pro. Heather, do you still have your morning cup of coffee?

I've totally given up caffeinated beverages. I keep a bottle of 100mg caffeine pills in the house, and if I ever feel like I need some, I'll take about 10 - 25 mg. I consume about 70mg caffeine per week, and I'm happy with that. I used to have a coffee habit like you wouldn't believe, 600mg caffeine per day a few years ago.

Gave up coffee a few years ago and glad to say that all the Dr M is saying was true for me.
Good riddance.

Paper filter? Interesting
If nescafe and the others listened to Dr McD
They would all have a paper filter magazine on their machines

I also think Dr M wouldve highlighted the role coffee could play in osteoporosis as well as it has been shown in mri studies to reduce cerebral blood flow by up to 40%

Dr. M looks more frail and tired than in previous years...something must have been going on shortly before he passed away. In the interest of privacy and mourning, guess we may never know but in the interest of learning and science, it would seem helpful to know what happened.
