Python Program #39 - Insertion Sort Algorithm in Python
In this video by Programming for beginners we will see Python Program to Sort Numbers using Insertion Sort Algorithm in Python for beginners series.
Python programming language and program is very easy to learn for students and professionals.
Insertion sort is a simple sorting algorithm that works similar to the way you sort playing cards in your hands.
The array is virtually split into a sorted and an unsorted part.
Values from the unsorted part are picked and placed at the correct position in the sorted part.
Example: list1 = [12, 11, 13, 5, 6]
1st Pass: list1 = [11, 12, 13, 5, 6]
2nd Pass: list1 = [11, 12, 13, 5, 6]
3rd Pass: list1 = [11, 12, 5, 13, 6]
[11, 5, 12, 13, 6]
[5, 11, 12, 13, 6]
4th Pass: list1 = [5, 11, 12, 6, 13]
[5, 11, 6, 12, 13]
[5, 6, 11, 12, 13]
