In JavaScript you can do array.sort( ( a, b ) => a - b ) for ascending, b - a for descending. It uses UTF-16 to check for whichever comes first. To do alphabetic sorting you should do change to lowercase or uppercase to ignore the uppercase characters always coming before lowercase
