What is VRAM and why is it different from RAM?

You may have heard the term “VRAM” before - especially when tech folk like me talk about graphics cards, but not sure what it is or why it’s any different from your normal RAM. This video will explain all that for you!

Would be cool if you make a video explaining how a video game frame/image makes it to the monitor screen from beginning to end. A complete map of where the image starts, the components it travels to, what each piece of hardware does and is responsible for, to the final step of the image being rendered on the monitor screen. Just a thought for pc tech noobs like myself. It’s interesting stuff.

I was disappointed not to learn how system RAM is used in the process of loading textures/assets. Can it be used as some sort of "overflow frame buffer" ? Is that what shared GPU memory stands for (in task manager). Also, since most people are stuck with a fixed amount of VRAM, but can upgrade their main RAM, is there any way for those people to mitigate the impact of having too little VRAM (4gb) ?
That would be especially useful to people tinkering with game engines and 3D modeling software since the VRAM needs there can grow potentially without bounds. I still don't understand why in 2021 manufacturers don't allow people to easily upgrade their VRAM.

So, i could not have a GPU and still would be able to run games right? Could it be said that GPU was created for the increasing graphic demanding games? So, after all it is just a RAM “variant” but with a focus on graphics? Good video by the way.
