Why Your Life Is Boring And How To Change It

We hate being bored. But if we're so good at micro-managing our boredom, how come so many of us feel that our lives are just a routine and lack excitement and meaning?
A little bit about myself: I'm Kitaro, a Movement, Kung Fu, and breathwork practitioner and teacher. I don't like fitness. Instead, I like to combine Movement with philosophical thinking – if that makes sense. I try to publish weekly videos. So, if you like my vibe, please subscribe to this channel.

When I feel boredom I usually have something I want to do but have a lot of excuses for not doing. Usually its scary to put myself out there so I avoid continuing my writing, so I sit around and feel bored instead. Other times its not pulling out a board or card game to play because I am only remembering the feeling of the game ending instead of the awesome experience that lead to the end.

This video was so timely, as I was having similar thoughts myself just the other night. I had no idea you were (1) a leftie like me, and (2) a family man. That made me look at your content in a completely different light. Thank you for the insight's you've shared, you've given me a bit of clarity in my own situation.

Yes, its never boring if you learn how to take intelligent risks and go for your passions and dreams. I say this as a 77 year-old who is still very much alive and always learning...

I have listened to the same song for 3 months now. 1 Playlist on repeat. Exactly 1 song.

I resonate with your comments about boredom. I am actively trying to find time for boredom with my kids, instead of them always spending their time with screens.

This one is pretty good but I miss your old thumbnails! Very cinematic looking and I like the color contrast and effects.

Always have enjoyed getting lost in reverie of the world around me, just watching birds or clouds or looking at a big tree. My adult children tease me saying "Dadmt" like I'm tripping all the time.

I am enjoying and learning a lot from your videos. Thank you. I’ve downloaded your app. Thanks for that too.
I’ve started practicing breathing and taking cold baths 59°. I’m 77 and have had a heart attack so for me that’s cold 🥶 enough.
I had peripheral neuropathy thru cutting out sugar in my diet the feeling has come back into my feet but I still have lingering nerve pain.
So I started cold baths and breath work to see if it helps 2+ months ago.
I’ve noticed it does definitely help. I feel relief from the pain all day long.
I hope with persistent in my practice it will go away completely ❤ love your voice by the way.

Beautiful video, very timely for me as I’ve been feeling very empty and purposeless yet struggling with the very idea of meaning as a path to true joy or contentment, as meaning only exists as a concept in the mind juxtaposed against meaninglessness. How unsettled and uneasy we feel when we identify with concepts which are inherently dualistic - when we believe them to be more real than this moment. As you suggest, the journey is always alive as it is Now, while the goal is always in the imagination which is unreal. In any case, I really enjoy your content and appreciate your wisdom. 🙏🏼

I love the metaphor of Ariadne's thread! Few months ago I posted my goals and the journey on a forum where people share this kind of stuff. It is my Ariadne's thread. And it's always easier to keep going when you share your journey with others.

I also think it's more difficult to get excited about something as we get older, right? But talking to a new person, experiencing something unexpected and visiting new places does help to break the routine. I am also thinking about some other ways, any ideas?

Nice video, Kitaro!
I´m very aware of these dopamine rewards that we seek everyday. Yet, I chase it. Unintentionally, of course. And, I´m so addicted, that even watching this 8 minute video, it makes me look for my phone to scroll that crap instagram/facebook apps, again, before ending it...
It´s a strugle, every day, to let go.
Cheers!
