SUBSCRIBE!!! Hope everyone has a great day :)

I want to mention this video only included clues that helped get closer to solving the mystery, as i value your time and quite frankly the amount of dead ends and fake clues would of lead to this video being an hour long! So if you want to dig deeper for yourselves i welcome it and will leave links in the description!

Oldroot is personally, one of my favorite minecraft themed arg’s. (next to don’t look at the moon) It’s still one of my favorite parts of arg history to this day.

Fun fact: The creator of OldRoot also created the “DON’T FEED THE MUSE” ARG.

The fact OldRoot came from the same person that later on gave us "Don't Feed The Muse" amazes me. Congratulations to Alex Bale for making 2 AMAZING ARGs.

Hopefully once DFTM is over he'll come back to this mystery and deliver more.

There is more to this ARG that what the video showed us. As far as I know, the creator (who was later revealed to be Alex Bale) decided to abandon the project due to the convoluted story and having to keep posting clues cuz investigators couldn't solve them. This is not to say that the ARG is bad, as it did have somewhat of a story at the start. However, that story was soon lost and the ARG turned into a waiting game for the next clue. Kudos to the creator for the effort, though.

The best part about oldroot, is that he adds deception.
Unlike most ARG’s, oldroot would trick people in ways that are hard to decipher. Which is one of my favorite things about this ARG

Nice video, you summed up the mystery well, but I think you missed something. The melon temple in the video was found on an actual Minecraft server. Several signs were found in different locations on this server, which lead to more clues

i loved this ARG, as well as the dont look at the moon and mark101. i find that these turn minecraft into no longer a sandbox block game, but a darker horror game

Vigenere cipher!

The Vigenère cipher is a classical encryption method that uses a series of interwoven Caesar ciphers based on a keyword. It was invented by the French cryptographer Blaise de Vigenère in the 16th century and is considered one of the strongest manual encryption techniques of its time.

Here's how the Vigenère cipher works:

Keyword selection: Choose a keyword, which is a word or phrase that will be used to encrypt and decrypt the message. For example, let's use the keyword "KEY".

Key repetition: Repeat the keyword to match the length of the message or the part of the message you want to encrypt. If the message is longer than the keyword, repeat the keyword until it covers the entire length. In our example, if the message is "HELLO WORLD, " the keyword "KEY" will be repeated as "KEYKEYKEYKE" to match the length of the message.

Conversion of letters to numbers: Assign each letter of the keyword and the message a numerical value based on their position in the alphabet (A=0, B=1, C=2, and so on). In our example, "H" is 7, "E" is 4, "L" is 11, "O" is 14, "W" is 22, "R" is 17, and "D" is 3.

Encryption: Add the numerical values of the corresponding letters in the message and the keyword. If the sum exceeds 25, wrap around to the beginning of the alphabet. Repeat this process for each letter. In our example, the encrypted message would be:

Message: HELLO WORLD
Keyword: KEYKEYKEYKE
Encrypted: RSTKU NIDLP

The first letter "H" is encrypted by adding 7 (H) and 10 (K) to get 17 (R). The second letter "E" is encrypted by adding 4 (E) and 4 (E) to get 8 (S), and so on.

Decryption: To decrypt the message, use the same keyword and subtract the numerical values of the corresponding letters in the encrypted message from the keyword. If the result is negative, add 26 to get the correct value. Repeat this process for each letter. Using our example, the decryption process would be:

Encrypted: RSTKU NIDLP
Keyword: KEYKEYKEYKE
Decrypted: HELLO WORLD

The first letter "R" is decrypted by subtracting 10 (K) from 17 (R) to get 7 (H). The second letter "S" is decrypted by subtracting 4 (E) from 8 (S) to get 4 (E), and so on.

The strength of the Vigenère cipher lies in the fact that it introduces variability and complexity by using different Caesar ciphers within the same message. However, with the advent of modern computers and sophisticated cryptographic methods, the Vigenère cipher is relatively easy to break using statistical techniques if the keyword is short or weak.

This is 100% something i would do, ive been into code making and breaking, i used to (and still sometimes do) hide chipers and codes in my journal ( codes like the acsension code form Ark and obscure drawings of artifacts from games)
