Hi. It's been a minute. Sorry for the lack of uploads recently and sorry if this video is a little less polished than normal (albeit mostly on purpose). A lot has happened in the last few months of my life, but I'm finally back and ready to pour blood, sweat, and (mostly) tears into more content.

Hopefully (no promises), I'll be back to a slightly more frequent upload schedule, along with occassional streams and channel member content.

While waiting for the next Garfilled upload, please check out some of the more recent content from the Minecraft SMP I created, [REDACTED] SMP. If you're looking for extremely high quality horror or cinematic Minecraft content, the recent content on there have been masterpieces. I highly encourage you to check it out (plus, I cameo in a number of the recent videos).

Also, I've been doing a podcast with some of my friends on my group channel Take Five. Check that out if you like hearing people talk about nothing.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has stuck by the channel, especially through all the long breaks between uploads.

Stay tuned,
Garfilled

What I think this video explains, after seeing it, is the feeling of memories rotting away. With this being made so long ago, it eventually started to fade from garfilled's mind, and upon revisiting it, it was much, much different than what he had once thought it was going to be like. It felt ever-expanding, and always like something was wrong. The fire burning away at the house symbolizes the fading of his memories and thoughts on the world, as it crumbled underneath him into a hellish nightmare, with a shadow figure of someone, perhaps a past tense him, stalking him. Something is not right to him now, but yet a long time ago, to a younger garfilled, everything was right in the world. This is his home, but at the same time... it's not.

I was not expecting this to turn into a short horror film

The library room clearly represents the memories that you've been making through your childhood time. After its burn, it means that, as the time goes, the memories... gets older, yet, forgotten, as the happiness of the first world, began to collapse, eventually.

Life, was built to be like this.

This felt like a representation of when your inner child dies, how we all eventually grow up and stop seeing the imaginative and vast ideas we used to have. Everything we once made and saw as amazing and grand, now seems poor and terrible. I like how this lets you have your own interpretation at the end, while there still being a very clear concept in mind for the video! Honestly an amazing job!

This feels strangely familiar. My first minecraft house was also a strange shape made of boxes, with a low roof, a second floor, windows everywhere and it was all made out of oak planks. I remember the first time i got the "you may not sleep now, there are monsters nearby" I immediately left. I also tried making a garden, wich was blown up by a creeper. I do remember feeling extremely uneasy in that world, even with iron armor..

It's weird to think that this game has changed so many of us. The video of showing our inner child is dying slowly, or our memories dying slowly as well. The nostalgia hits hard when you think of something in your past or childhood, or re visit the place or thing. The said thing you first experienced or seen will never be the same when you experienced it for the same time.

the garfilled lore hits different, a crumbling memory over a nostalgic house with what i presume is a younger garfilled being left in the world. left to slowly die as the current Garfilled continues his life. im not sure exactly of the story here but nonetheless i enjoyed it. lovin the story telling

I believe this might be related to some kind of traumatic event that happened in the protagonists lifespan - the memories were suppressed and buried away until he entered the world, where they returned.

The house being confusing and difficult to navigate with it's unbearably large rooms could be a sign that the memories had been distorted, with the mind trying to make sense of what is going on. The fire on the house could signal that the long lost memory had been found, but the mind is now trying to violently suppress it to avoid bringing the trauma back, or it could be possible that the mind is now collapsing because of the remembrance of what caused the PTSD.

This could be explained by the Omori and Petscop soundtracks throughout the video, where:
- one is a psychological horror game where the protagonist ends up experiencing life trauma and tries to hide it, before getting the truth revealed and having to be forced to accept it.
- the other is about somebody discovering a long lost game they had not played in years, only to discover that it is completely different from what they remember, hiding a dark secret beneath its fabric.

for those wondering, the coded text in the description says “this is not my home. this is my hell” in vigenère cipher with the key of “forgotten”

3:59 hit hard since seeing the empty, lonely, and rotting house for a decade can hit you with reality.

I don't know why, but when I saw this building I felt my heart drop. This looked just like a base I had built almost 10 years ago. It wasn't exactly like this- it looked different. But for just a moment I thought somehow something from my youth had crept back into my life. It looked new and strange.

This isn't my base, it never was. It was someone else's base, but just for a moment, I thought time had brought back a relic of the past.

I love how he made nostalgia into something horrorfying

my interpretation for this was my experience living with childhood trauma. going back to a place that shouldve been safe, that shouldve raised me, instead feels like it tore me apart and ruined me- yet its still my childhood and i am still nostalgic for it.

Looking back at my childhood, i kinda miss videos like this. Not overdramatic creepypastas/horror. It's a shame that this trend died out. But im still happy to see some people are still making videos like these

For y'all who wanna know what the book says, "As I turned the corner, the familiar sight of my childhood home greeted me. It appeared just as I remembered it. Except brighter and darker, I parked my car in the empty driveway and stepped out. Slowly, I made my way to the porch. Each step with a reminder of my past. With a sense of nostalgia. I raised my hand and knocked on the door. Several minutes passed in pure still silence as I stood on that porch. Finally the door creaked open, revealing a man. He was tall and pale and dark and cold. I had never seen this man in my life, yet as the door opened, his eyes burned into mine, revealing a spark of recognition in his cold eyes.
He asked what my name was
And I responded with a name I had never heard. I asked him what his name was.. And he responded with mine. This man welcomed me into my house. His house was exactly how I remembered, I wandered through the barren hallways, embracing the waves of nostalgia that being in the house evoked. Reaching the end of the hallways I was met with the familiar door that led to the basement of the house, descending the staircase I reached the bottom where I faced the large old mirror that had always resided here. I peered through the dust of the mirror and saw the reflection of myself gazing back at me. But it wasn't myself. It wasn't my house behind the mirrored version of me either. It was nothing.. I left the house shortly after.

I was laying in my bed when it began, it was the middle of the night and I awoke with a start, I felt that something was wrong, I didn't realize it was fire until I began to smell the smoke coming from the vent. But I continued to lay in my bed, in the sheets unbothered by the inferno. The smoke began seeping under the door like a deadly fog. The room became a boiling pot, the temperature rising higher and higher and higher, I felt my eyebrows singe off as it got hotter and hotter. Flames began to invade my room so tall that they licked the ceiling. The walls began melting, the wallpaper darkening and peeling, I began to feel my skin melt like the walls slowly sliding off, revealing another layer Beneath, and soon that layer was gone and all I could feel was the flames. My home was now my hell my home was now my hell my home was now my hell. I couldn't move anymore, I just continued to melt and melt and melt and melt and melt and all I could see was myself looking back down upon me, laughing at how I was helpless in the flames. My home was now my hell and I couldn't do anything but melt and melt and-"

I’m really glad I clicked on this video, when reading the title I thought this is some type of video about exploring old minecraft world. It may sound boring but it did caught me with the glitch on the first second of the video. The feeling that something is not right. And I turn out to be right. This video give a feeling about exploring the emotions and feeling of yourself that is not the same anymore. It like you just found a part of yourself that you don’t know it exist because it was ‘forgotten’. It always feels like something wrong throughout the video but couldn’t catch it. The amount of Omori, Yume Nikki and psychological horror in this video is just… Masterpiece.
