In hindu households there used to be a separate room for women who are on their periods, and basically they got 4 days off from kitchen work and kids and would rest in that room. We should note that in the olden days household work was quite tedious - draw water from the well, collect firewood, grind grain and many more. So it made sense back then.

I've been married for 10 years. Almost everyone who has grown old in my family and up sleeping in different rooms. Different beds are much better than that... and I'm my opinion keeps the passion alive because you value and don't take for granted the nights together. I hate how intolerant people are of different cultures and lifestyles. I've been married 10 years and can tell you two love each other very very much. I hate the mean comments.
