I lived smack dab in the middle of one of the orthodox Jewish communities in Brooklyn at one point and I remember once in a while they’d ask me (or my male roommate depending on who was asking) to turn the light switch on for them or turn on their stove for them lol we were more than happy to oblige just to get to know them a little bit because they kind of kept to them selves. I’ve always had a great deal of reverence for the orthodox community because I grew up in New York

It's a pleasure to see families out having a walk together.

I live in an old Jewish neighborhood in Pittsburgh. I love seeing the families walking around and many of the kids enjoying waving to me. They are so sweet

I grew up very close to Bexley, Ohio. I was blessed to get to meet and grow up next to a thriving Jewish community. So, I got to experience the benefits of the beautiful parks and walking paths, the bakeries, restaurants, dry cleaners, seamstresses, cobblers, and grocery stores. I was blessed to be invited to a passover meal as well. I feel like these experiences made my life exponentially better. ❤ I could write a novel about my experiences, but I will just say thank you to those who were always so very kind to me.❤

I used to live in Toco Hills in Atlanta, GA and I would see families walking on Fridays and Saturdays. It was beautiful to see 😍

I’m a non Jew who grew up in a mostly Jewish neighborhood. I could walk to 3 different synagogues, various branches. I went to an all girls catholic school and our graduation ceremony
was held at one of the reform synagogues. Your videos help answer so many questions I had growing up. ❤

The Orthodox neighborhood I lived in in Brooklyn would have sirens going off every Friday, around 30 minutes before sunset, to alert the Jewish community running last minute errands that sunset was near, so they could make their way home quickly. At first I used to think it was overkill, because I assumed everyone would be aware of the time, but you would definitely see many Jewish people pick up their pace. I guess they had lost track of time.

I grew up next to the very large Jewish community in Midwood Brooklyn and because of Shabbos and the banks being closed in Midwood they were always open on Sunday when every other bank literally in Brooklyn was closed except the one in Midwood. It was awesome and I love Jewish bakeries . I actually also moved to Williamsburg Brooklyn. I am Hispanic so we lived on the Hispanic southside and then next to us next to the BQE was, I believe it’s one of the biggest Hasidic Jewish neighborhoods in New York. I remember being a little kid in the late 80s early 90s It was like I was walking into another world that was literally separated by this black I don’t know what was actually made, but it looks like a black telephone wire and it would stretch through the outer outer neighborhood. Every time I go with my Nana to the kosher butcher, and I passed under that black cable, I felt like I was getting let in on a secret that everybody knew and like I was now like a part of it and I don’t know maybe it’s silly kid thing but it made me feel like I what’s going on a special mission with my Nana and then she would buy me a cake at the Jewish baker I know I’m not explaining it right hopefully you understand what I mean. I know it was a for religious reason maybe you could help me figure it out like what’s it called because I would love to know the history behind it and I never asked any of my Jewish friend because I don’t know. I kind of felt like it would be rude and also like I didn’t wanna ruin that magic feeling I had as a kid. lol

Omg this popped up for me right on time! I saw a group of people walking down the sidewalk in my area last Saturday. I was out running errands somewhere I wouldn’t typically be on a Saturday morning. I was thinking it was a bit of a large crowd and they were all dressed very conservatively. Just now clicked they were also right up the street from a synagogue!

I live in a huge orthodox Jewish neighborhood hood in Milwaukee and me and my friends have always wondered why you guys always walk on Fridays instead of just drive. This made things very clear❤

I lived very close to the border of another town with a large Orthodox Jewish community. As a kid, whenever we drove through that town on Saturday we constantly see people walking in big groups. My mom eventually clued me in that they were Orthodox Jewish.
