Here's Why You Must AVOID The New 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

The new 2025 Chevrolet Equinox might seem good at a glance, but there’s a huge reason you need to avoid buying this vehicle. Here’s why you should avoid the new 2025 Chevrolet Equinox!

What’s New
The 2025 Chevy Equinox might seem like a reasonable pick at first, but there are several key issues with the vehicle that make it something you need to reconsider and even avoid going into 2025. While the vehicle has a good-looking exterior and even a relatively clean interior design, there are many other issues that stand out with the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. The engine itself is a key factor, being relatively weak, and with the Equinox entering the 4th generation for the 2025 year, you would expect it to offer a much more substantial vehicle. It seems like Chevy hasn’t quite fixed many of the issues of previous years and models, which might make this 2025 model a weaker option compared to other similar SUVs on the market. The price of the 2025 Chevy Equinox starts at $29,995 for the LT trim and goes up to $34,395 for both the Activ trim and the RS trim.

Engine
One of the biggest downsides of the 2025 Equinox has to be the engine. This is easily a great reason to avoid the Equinox, which only offers a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower. It’s safe to say that this, along with the CVT or continuously variable automatic transmission, means that you won’t be getting any of the oomph that similarly priced SUVs offer. The ride is comfortable, but the Equinox is on the heavy side, and this is apparent while driving. Not made for serious driving or offroad driving, the Equinox is very much limited to city streets and highways and follows this up with an almost disgustingly slow 0 to 60-second rush. The acceleration of this vehicle is anything but robust, only managing to reach 60 miles per hour in a full 8.6 seconds of driving. This is one of the slowest out of all the 2025 competitors of the Chevy Equinox, meaning that for any driver who values a bit of snappiness in their whip, the Equinox is a must-pass. This vehicle feels sluggish in both acceleration and consistent driving and really shouldn’t. There’s no excuse for a 2025 model to fail this hard at getting up to speed, steering, and handling.

I just got the 2025 Equinox in September and I have over 2, 000 miles on it. I came from the Blazer and yes, the engine is smaller but they refined the 4-cyl turbo and it’s not too bad. For the price, I 10/10 recommend to anyone looking!

I just bought a 2025 Equinox! I love it. I traded a 22 Honda CRV. The Equinox has more power than my Honda. Much more comfortable ride. Infotainment system blows Honda away. No one could hear me on Bluetooth without the Honda. Crystal clear in Equinox. I feel safer as bigger than my Honda and quit cabin. I love my Equinox. Hyundai and Kia have had tons of recalls already. Not sure who did this review. I also had Rav 4 in past. This blows that vehicle away too!

No one is buying this for speed or off-road. Buying for looks, space, mpg and affordability. Dealer near me already has some a few thousand off.

I just purchased the RS this week and I love it! The only downside is that there wasn’t an option for a premium sound system.

This should just be named pros and cons of the Equinox. I bought mine a few weeks ago, and if I was going to do a bunch of off-road driving, I would've bought a truck. I work at a Chevy dealership and after staring at one on the showroom floor for two weeks and selling three of them with no negative reviews, I broke down and traded in my hyundai elantra for the 2025 Activ model and I love it.

This vehicle is the best value in new cars. Chevrolet will give you a good deal on a vehicle while all other makes and their dealers will clean out your bank account. The vast majority of buyers are getting ripped off buying overpriced pickup trucks that have payments equivalent to a home mortgage. Buying one of these for $30, 000 is not a bad deal these days.

Bought mines in December, great value and paid only 28k, after discounts

Recently purchased a 2025 of 1800 miles on it. Been excellent so far I've had no issues with the horsepower or acceleration.

The weak engine doesn't bother me since I knew what I was buying and mostly styling. The missing 12V socket to power an inverter for a laptop in the forward passenger seat does. I'm absolutely shocked I have to run an extension to the rear cargo area. I feel ripped off.

Going by everyone’s comments, I think I just got a lemon. The radio and turbo has already had to be replaced in 4 months of ownership and keep getting error messages on the dash about the sensors

I just picked up my 2025 RS AWD and love it. It’s perfect for me. This guy is smoking something. He’s obviously a Chevy hater.

The best of the new Equinox's is the all-wheel drive with the 8-speed automatic. I don't need all-wheel drive, but I would NEVER own any vehicle with a CV transmission. They are a lethargic driving experience. It would be nice if the 2.0 engine was still an option, but Chevy sold so few of this engine option in the previous models I can understand why it was dropped. It did however greatly improve performance, but premium was recommended for optimal engine performance. I could live with the 1.5 turbo engine and 8 speed automatic transmission. FWD with the 8-speed automatic would be my preference, but sense Chevrolet decided to place a junk CVT in the AWD version, I would go AWD. The design of the 2025 Equinox is outstanding compared to the previous model. Another thing that Chevrolet needs to offer in the 2025 Equinox, a premium sound system. From all the reviews I have seen on the only offered sound system, it is sub-par. Many of us enjoy quality sound systems in our vehicles. I would pay the extra cost for the upgrade sound system. I am sure many would also. I look for Chevrolet to offer that upgrade in the 2026 model year. Are you listening Chevrolet? It can only help in sales.

I have a 2024 and have the same power problem, even with a 6 speed transmission. I wouldn't touch one again.

I completely disagree with this guy’s video I own a 2024 equinox and we love it. It’s front wheel drive six speed transmission heated seats. It’s really nice. Don’t let this downplay you or fool you

In reality - the Chevy Equinox Gas is virtually the same Zero to 60 time of a Gas RAV4 & CRV with in .3 seconds or so. No One will be able to tell the difference in 0-60 time. The Honda CRV CVT transmission on a full throttle take off is like kicking a dead horse. The Equinox 4WD with the 8 speed and 203lb torque it wont feel bad on take offs and daily driving. The RAV4 2.5 4cyl is extremely noisy - but it is very reliable

One week in and I have no complaints. Yes it’s slower but I came from a Camaro lmao. Do your research. This video is for someone who is trying to sale you something different.
