At first I was listening at a medium volume and could hardly tell any differences, but then I turned it up a few clicks and that helped a lot.

I agree with the comments saying B wasn't better and I noticed it right away. Apart from the limiter, the upper range of the low mids seemed to be a bit too forward and I felt like the stereo image was really out of place as well. Almost sounds like the room tone + reflections are enhanced but in a bad way.

I always accept your lessons gracefully

I agree. I happened many times to me until I realized it. Thanks

If I just focus on the snare in all the examples
A is the fullest and something smeary/trebly is happening in B & C.
.
I often find that the snare is like some sort of anker ...
You listen to bass, mid and hi-end and then go back to the snare to
see if it still holds up when you're doing compression or eq.
.
Thumbs up :-)

It was not clear to me why you said B sounded better than A because to me immediately A sounded much better.

What is the song/artist? Sounds a fair amount like Riverside/Lunatic Soul, but I don't recognize it as one of theirs.

Do we need to use a specific type of headphones as we listen . I’m using cheap Af jlabpro blue tooth $10 ear buds I use just to layer to podcasts . I mean obviously I’m not trying to listen to subs . Just wondering if my ears won’t get the full effect or whatver if I don’t have at least $100 headphiens or use my flat response beyerdynamics etc thanks 😊

And this, kids, is why you should go to school for audio engineering within a liberal arts degree path. You learn about things that seemingly have nothing to do with music or your chosen field of study. I remember taking a psychology class back when I was in school for RECORDING. In it we learned a little about how the human psyche played a role in evolution. By itself you wouldn't think twice about it, but when you put it together with what you're learning about here, it all comes together. And that's what education is. If you just focus on "learning how to mix" you won't understand that part of our biology is that our brain, through evolutionary processes, IGNORES more mid-range frequencies picked up by our ears the louder a sound gets - we naturally (and subconsciously) pay closer attention to bass and treble frequencies the louder sound becomes...most likely because hearing the grunt of a bear or a rustle of leaves meant the difference between life and death to us. Cool, huh?

**SPOILER** Read this after you watch the video. Lol, I didn't like B and C from the start. I was saying here, you are wrong, B doesn't sound better, I was making faces on why would you say that, just to see at the end that my ears are awesome. I love you ears <3 haha

Maybe I can't hear well because I don't look like my hairs from an 80s romcom
