I am so glad I found your channel 1 week after we got our re-homed GSD. At my age, I didn’t expect to have a toddler in the house again😅. She’s a joy and keeps me on my toes physically and mentally!

Sometimes my gsd will smell and look for things, but majority of the time he will stare at me until I play! So cool that he only wants to do stuff with me, even when it’s his free time to run and play!!
I love him so much! Everyone should be lucky enough to experience a German shepherds love! ❤

I have a rescue of 75 % lab and 25 % Shepherd.
And Yes!! She NEEDS !! Physical de energizing .!
She really wants to play and chase and retrieve her Jolly ball.
I am sure she had built up frustration when I only had her 1 month and having to be on a leash or in our camper. She NEEDED TO
She went after a young dog on a walk. Needless to say we paid Vet bills for the dog .
And when we got home we hired a trainer. We learned so much about prong collars e collars and for me regular key words to use for "HEEL, OK, DOWN, PLACE, STAY" etc to have control and most important CONFIDENCE for me to be able to have her under my control.
The small dog is fine and the owners have been wonderful .

I just met yesterday with a student with a 1-1/2 y.o. GSD. Not aggressive, but a bit out-of-control from way too much pent-up energy. Not nearly enough daily exercise. I recommended multiple ways to mentally and physically challenge this guy. Thanks for validating the advice I gave to my student.

Thanks for your videos Tom! I wish every dog owner would watch them all. I think it would help a lot of people better understand their dog.

I've got an American Bulldog, he just hit a year and a half and I neutered him a month ago. I was walking him a mile in the morning, playing fetch and tug and wrestling, then going to work (from home office with him hanging with me). After work we do another 2 mile walk and some play/obedience training. Even on days I wasn't working and we took a longer hike, I could NEVER wear him out for more than a half hour before he was exploding with energy again. Finally, my daily routine seems to get him settled much better and he seems legitimately tired. Not sure if that is related to the neutering or age but I was getting concerned I would be hard pressed to keep his energy needs met. His behavior has been considerably better and in some ways, I feel like the training is actually progressing much better these days. I study your content like a madman, thanks for all that Tom! Looking to catch you in AZ next time you do a tour!

Good advice! I have a 1 1/2 yr. old GSD and he requires lots of activity, for his body and his brain. Also requires lots of activity for my brain to keep ahead of him. 🤣😅😂

You are the best dog trainer by giving examples and explaining what we need to do!

Awesome ! I actually did the first exercises you demonstrated with my GSD Harley yesterday. Except I had her on a leash because we were out in public and she doesn’t do too well with a lot of distractions yet.

Hii dude amazing video
Can you please make a video with leash recommendations for those dogs who are pulling and not listening to their owner? That would be so helpful!!!
Amazing video again 👍🏻

I have a 1yr old male needing a home!!! We saved him from a terrible living situation. He was starving nearly to death. The owner was passing herself from liver failure, they weren’t bad people and called me to help their dog. Anyway.. he’s healthy now but I have no time for him and he’s just left all alone most of the time 😢 someone help him. Rescue? Foster? Forever home? Anyone?

Been training GSDs for almost 20 years and people think they are house dogs. They are not. They are a working breed that needs to acompany you, all thr time. Its their job to be your guardian. Allow them to be.

My GSDs are almost 2, so they require quite a bit of physical exercise and stimulation. They are both pretty laid back, so it's easier than most shepherds, but they still require a minimum of 2 hours of activity (minimum... They usually need a little more depending on activity throughout the week). I will let them run and wrestle and play to their hearts content, then once they are worn out from that... play ball with my female and tug with my male, and of course long walks and the nature park which are both a physical activity as well as mentally stimulating. Training happens throughout everything, I always say every moment is an opportunity to train. They also have a big need to chew on bones (and sticks 😑). I notice a HUGE difference in their energy levels when I'm not able to get them out (weather being the biggest culprit and sometimes things come up with our schedules) and exercised. They will be trying to wrestle in the house and almost literally bouncing off the walls 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ they will also start getting into things and chewing up my kids toys. These are not dogs for the faint of heart! My female is quite lazy, but my male needs A LOT of mental stimulation. It gets exhausting having to keep up with them sometimes, I wouldn't recommend just anyone get one, you definitely need to have a lifestyle that compliments their needs and yourself be willing to put in the work.

I took my GSD to Upstate Canine Academy. She is amazing now that we know how to handle her.

Not mine... she loves to spend her time looking out the window, sleeping, and moving from sofa to bed 😂. I love my lazy
