How to Fix Flashing LED Lights on a Dimmer

I've got four Elco 8" LED Panel Lights in this room. When I tried to use a dimmer, they flashed. The solution was to use a capacitor at the switch.
Not sure why I said "3-1", I meant 12/3. I always wire my switches with 12/3, just in case I need the neutral. In this case, you do. Some smart switches don't need a neutral, and Lutron claims you don't need one for this particular dimmer. I also couldn't think of the word "Wago" or "lever nut" while shooting. Having a camera pointed at me just blanks my brain.
