The problem with this method is if the problem keeps recurring where the teeth comes off the slider again and you try to widen and crimp back the slider again is the metal fatigue weakens the slider and it will eventually snap at the point you are bending the metal with your pliers. On the other hand, this tip should help you when you're in a bind and need to fix a zipper quick.
