how do you work with this using the unreal engine packed texture maps?

I did not know that .

I always copied the noodles and blends from the standard material for my individual material in the respective material function.
And copied the all Material Functions in the main material.
But
This is much easier with the master material.
Master Material requires much less performance, Correct?

I think I didn't understand the master's material correctly.
What is this actually?
Can I use it to paint my terrain with the brush in the normal way-> (Paths, rocks, beach, meadows, forest) .

Or is it just only a single color / texture for an object?

I want to use it as a landscape painting, with all the layers in the target layer menu, for the brushes.
If it works like this, I dont see my material instances in this "Target layers menu" to select.
I still have my old leftover textures with question marks Symbols in this menu, but not the new material instances.
