My highschool did a time capsule for every graduating class. Then 50 years later it is opened. So every senior class opens the capsule of the class 50 years before them and then buries their capsule in the same place. The school has a small field dedicated to the concept.

I have a time capsule in the back of my shelf that I switch out every two years. I put it there in 2014 after my doctor informed me that my memory loss was getting worse. I put the same things everytime: a letter detailing major events going on in my life at the time, an amethyst, and a drawing of my favorite character.
I can't recall what was in each one but I can remember that the last time I opened it was in 2018. It might be time to crack it open again.

This made me want to make something like a time capsule, but then I realized that time capsules are useless nowadays thanks to the internet lol. This comment alone is time capsule for real.

Coins owned by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams? Nah, honorable mention. A recent invention like a computer mouse which isn't really all that interesting? Definitely top ten worthy

The pie with the flies on it, is a head-scratcher.

Honestly Rebecca's French pronunciations were the most impressive things in the video.

6:09 - That's my old apartment on the right! :D Place St. Michel (although the building entrance was technically from rue St. Andre des Arts), Paris, France.
And as for time capsules, I recently unearthed one that I had unintentionally created myself. When I was moving apartments in 2006, I filled up a bag with all the magazines and flyers and used train tickets and supermarket bills and other small paper objects in a bag that I don't usually use. Since there was nothing of practical use in there for me - just souvenirs of my first year in Paris, really - I put the bag in the "cave" (basement) of my new apartment, intending to sift through it after I'd settled in, and completely forgot about it until last year, when I moved apartments again. 13 years might not sounds like a really long time, but when looking through this "time capsule" of mine, it just shows how much and how fast Paris - and the world, really - has changed. For instance, I found the instruction manual to my then-new Nokia phone. Anyone remember those? Most of the places those flyers were for - Piano Vache, Locomotive, Batofar - no longer exist. The price for a 40 gram pouch of the same shag tobacco I still smoke today (Drum), was 3.20 Euros; today it's 14 Euros. A bus ticket was purple and cost 60 centimes; today it's bland white and costs 2 Euros. I used to buy my English books from the Village Voice at 6, rue de la Princesse; it's since closed its doors years ago. I had a map of the unofficial Catacombs; today it's illegal and punishable by law to go down there.
Not the weirdest time capsule, or the oldest, but still, a mental time machine.

Maybe not the craziest, but gotta be one of the biggest, is a 1957 Plymouth buried when new in Tulsa, Okla., complete with a supply of fuel in case there were no more gas stations in the "future." Unearthed from its vault on schedule 50 years later, it turned out that the car got inundated with groundwater that leaked in. Too bad that they didn't build the capsule above ground.

Electroshock therapy "a little more sinister?" well.. It's still being used today, all across the world.

In the 60s I buried a time capsule in my backyard. Hot wheels cars, GI JOE, and other shit. 1969 California, Dig It.

That forgotten apartment story from Paris reminds me of a creepy “unintentional” time capsule created when an old woman died in 1966 Croatia, and was not discovered until more than 40 years later, her partially mummified body surrounded by household items untouched since her death.
