To add to the story about the wooly mammoth. It was found in an ice cave standing up. It is said to be flash frozen. It is the inspiration to the movie the day after tomorrow. Lastly, its stomach contents were examined (which were also perfectly preserved). These turned out to be cousins of tropical plants that live today. No one knows how tropical plants lived in Northern Siberia.

Those 3 recovered bodies from the expedition should have been higher up on the list. Talk about creepy

I'll throw in an honorable mention for "Glacier Girl" a ww2 Lockheed P38 fighter plane that was one of 8 aircraft to make an emergency landing in greenland. All of the crews were rescued, but the planes left. 50 years later the P38 was found buried 268 feet/82 metres deep in ice and snow, recovered, and restored to flying condition.
