An effective Programmer :
1. It's about how smartly you program.
2. It's about how well you learn.
3. It's about customer service.

Thank You. 🙏

Thank you! My dad started as a keypunch operator, and eventually became a systems manager for his company. He had no patience for those on his staff who complained about "stupid users." My dad knew that his department was there SOLELY to serve the needs of the users! His best people knew that, and honestly, it made them better programmers.

Down to earth and so understandable. My goal is building a game as a hobby - don't ever plan to be a professional programmer - but this insight was helpful. Thx! Codecademy is great! I just started.

Thank you for this content, I am new to coding and this just made me realize how different I imagine working as a web developer to what is the reality in this industry. Thank you!

Excellent resource, I'm in my third year of computer science and I still don't know how to program, I know the concepts but it's hard for me to get by when it comes to programming, maybe it's normal or not, I hope you can help me with a little bit of your stories and get to know you better, especially the experienced ones, to clarify doubts.

I'm like you so I especially like the third one particularly. I used to write Perl and HTML and CSS for a hospital system a while back. For several years I've been working as a data reporter for another company and now I'm an interface analyst working in system architecture for another. I'd like to actually dive into data science full bore, so these talks really are going to help out a lot. Thanks again for a job well-done. Very relatable.

Well done Patrick, it's unfortunate our society relies so much on myths, very well resumed. I'm new in the industry.

Hi. I would like to ask, what is the best path to take if I am learning programming to eventually get into information security?

But with the actual work of programming itself, we can work for a firm or be self employed and we have the choice of working with a team or working alone.

Why is handwritten code forced in school formats? Is it beneficial in some way?

So I have a question that probably won't be answered. In number two, the speaker mentioned what makes an effective web developer. Keeping up with ever growing changes (learning well). BUT aren't some of those changes made by big teams that knew the basics really well, got a bit fed up with doing things they were doing and made their own thing? Like React was made by facebook, go was made by google, swift was made by apple, etc. Each of those huge tech companies made those things to meet their specific needs, but they had to make it from scratch from lower level languages. So wouldn't having very super strong fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JS be extreamly beneficial? Like if someone kinda understands JS and decides to start working with react, while I know zero react but I'm a wizard in JS, wouldn't I have a advantage? It seems to me that I would.

I understood the concepts of programming. But when coming to the solving problems it was difficult for me to solve . I'm already practising but can't able to solve. Why this happens to me can anyone tell?
