Cs student here, this video is true. If you zombie a video or don't understand concepts they will bite in later semesters. You need to apply the theory you learn, read documentation, understand how others solved the problem, and work through it yourself. Also don't be afraid to ask questions to solidify information. I got most of my payroll assignment done, but I was stuck on a problem on a 2D array that has a list of units sold and a list of corresponding value. I knew I had to use a loop structure but I wasn't getting the desired output. I asked for help and explained what I had done so far, and that allows other students to chip in and it was then a nested for loop. But we could have tackled the problem with recursion or single for loop.

We could argue about performance, iterative is faster than recursion, but it's good to know what tools you have in your belt and then improve to make something elegant.
