When the waves disappear, people with survival skills run to high ground.

I remember a massive wave hitting the beach at Waimea Bay years ago. The lifeguard got on his bullhorn and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, if you value the lives of your children, get them off the beach right now! Massive wave coming in!" I looked out but didn't see anything particularly big out there, but moved back anyway. Sure enough, a minute later a massive wave rolls in, taking out beach towels and bags but no kids. Respect to the lifeguards.

"Look! A 10 foot white water coming directly at me at 40 miles an hour! Wonder why those lifeguards are yelling so much. Anyway, let's get closer!"

Guy saved that dog❤
People in the comments must have missed the dog being swept out and that guy was fighting to save it.

And people wonder why the Christmas tsunami of 2004 was so devastating.

Always listen to the lifeguards. They’re there to keep you safe!

You’ve got to pay attention while you’re on the beach. On the Oregon coast there are signs here and there about sneaker waves. My brother-in-law, his wife and their dog experienced a sneaker wave. They were lucky to survive. Wound up underwater 68 feet and were tumbled along the bottom for about as long as anyone could hold their breath. 😬

And this is why we never turn our back on the ocean, and respect our lifeguards... Listen to them! You could save your own life and theirs by not making them chase after you when you get sucked in . 🤙🏾

I'm convinced. Ants are smarter than humans.

It almost looked like a tsunami the way the tide went out before the rogue wave came into shore

Hawaii Lifeguards are always “like I said”, “like the sign says!” And then they gotta put their lives at risk for ppl who don’t listen or regard warning signs.

I’m from Hawaii. I hate seeing people not listening and being disrespectful to us Hawaiians. Now our people gotta put their lives in jeopardy. Thank you to our rescue workers for real 🌺🤙🏽

I watched the Mahrie (sp) masters at pipeline in 1978. 20 to 30 foot waves.
50, 000 people at the beach. I’m literally heard and watched the same speech as people in coolers and babies and chairs and every thing got washed out to see after a giant wave came in. Nobody listen to lifeguard warning.
He was screaming five minutes before it happened. And nobody moved.
