Perfect explanation, thank you. I was confused about full synthetic vs 100% synthetic but I got it now.

Thank you very much for good explanation of different oils.
Great video 😊👍

I likee how you discussed the different base stocks of oils. Nice.

We try soooo hard to not require the fancy engine oils. Counterfeit synthetic oils, dishonest oil changes, and OOPSie mistakes by customers can cause so much damage with extended service intervals.

Thanks a bunch F.B.M. I don't know about anyone else. But I found this very informative. This is one of thee best informative presentations about oils I have ever heard. Big heartfelt thank you. Sure answered the questions I had. God Bless you and yours.

Thank you!!! Finally some FACTS about Fords recommendations on oil!! As some one who works on Ford vehicles and drives a Stage 2 2.7 F150 on E85. I cant express enough the abuse that cheap oil takes going threw the turbo’s under heavy load. Which is why I run Amsoil with a Motorcraft filter every 5k. I also let my vehicle idle after heavy acceleration and hard driving for a bit to let oil temps stabilize and the turbo’s to return to a normal speed.

Nice explanation Boss. I especially like the explanation of how semi - synthetic (Ford recommended product in manual) is sufficient as long as you do the 3 -5000 mile oil change interval. That can save people some money over the life of the vehicle.
I have a 2002 Mazda B3000 (Ford Ranger 3.0 with Mazda badging) and have used Motorcraft 5w 20 semi synthetic for the last 20 years / miles and still have no oil related / consumption issues while doing 5000 mile oil change intervals.
Also, It is important to mention that just because you run a full synthetic, doesn’t necessarily mean you get to run extended oil change intervals. The synthetic oil lasts longer, but you still have issues related to driving cycles/conditions such as condensation, combustion by products, and even dirt that get into the oil and need to be removed through a regular oil change interval.
Thanks again for the explanation on oils.

Yep. Mentioned it before here, at 1000 miles went to full synthetic, and change every 4000-5000 miles leaning to 4000. I paid big bucks for my 2020 Ford Explorer ST, and I'm going to treat it the best I can!! And thanks Rich for the time you take to help us all!!

I love your videos because I either get confirmation that I knew something correctly or I learn something new. In this case I got both. I knew you could use "better" grade oils, but I didn't know there was a difference in "full" and "100%" synthetic. Of course I'm a bargain shopper so I'm usually running the Amazon Basics synthetic or Walmart synthetic, whichever is cheaper

Love the chats on motor oil. It may have been said on this channel many times but repetition as you know brings it home.

A great short and concise explanation of the different motor oils. The attendant at the local convenience store has a 2011 Escape Hybrid. He keeps asking me to change his oil. He has been pulling 16 hour shifts 7 days a week due to not being able to hire anyone. He has mentioned that he uses 5w20 semi synthetic and has been going to the quick lube places. He thinks that by switching to full synthetic he can extend his OCI to 10k. I explained that it is not a good idea to do so. I said that 6k would be my maximum limit on full synthetic.

Thanks Ford Boss for taking your valuable time to explain these facts to us.In the comment section you say 5W30 is what you use, I will switch over to that this week from 5W20 .I own a 2014 Taurus Limited 3.5 not turbo charged with 47, 000 miles on it .I change my oil every two months and use the standard Motorcraft filter at the time I do the service myself. I bought this car brand new. We have built a new home in Alabama, so a lot of miles have been driven and as my dad says oil is cheap. I'm 69 dad is 95 and I'm so glad he is still with us. I'm waiting for your video about the Red Line oil that you're using now, If you have really good oil sample results from the lab and you think highly of it I will use it in the 2023 Ford pickup that I'm planning to buy if Ford gets their act together and begins to build vehicles again. Again thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Be Blessed. Bodymanbob from Northern Virginia ♥
